Bypassing Cache, Reloading index from http://files.wowace.com/
Auto-retry of addon list load
Complete
one time i did this, i turned on the Diagnostic Logging and it reported some issue with the server or something, but i can't get it to display again.
I deleted the folders, uninstalled reinstalled, netsh winsock reset or whater, turned off my firewall completly turned off my routers firewall everything possible.
The worst part is that it worked this morning, a little less than 12 hours ago and NOTHING has changed since then.
With this many people having identical issues, the problem has to be server side.

Need some help here. If I missed a post somewhere addressing this problem, could you please link it. The updater was working up til 2 days ago. Hadn't changed anything with, would click on it and it would connect like it was going to update itself except I'd get Application could not be started. Please contact vendor.

I think that you are running some kind of firewall program or proxy which is blocking WAU.
Well I had an idea last night at 3am to try running the app from safe mode with networking. Verified that http was working with browser and fired up the app but it didn't pull anything or make the temp file entries, same error about not being able to reach host.
I've made it partially work once by doing about 10 things, so now I just need to see if I can recreate that one step at a time to find out what might be causing the issue. I'll post back if I get it figured out! :)
Not sure if this is common or not but im getting this error message w/e i try to d/l WAU from any of the download locations:

iv seen other ppl post something similar but not quite the same. managed to get it somewhat downloaded but w/e i try to open it it says "An unexpected error occured. Please make sure you are connecd to the internet and restart the application. The configuration section 'connectionStrings' has an unexpected declaration." not sure what that means but since i cant open the program i cant change n of the options. iv tryed opening with WowAceUpdater-1 and the other 1 and both give the same errors. Any solutions? or if its somewhere lese plz give a link cus i havnt found 1 yet.
Hi again!
Is there some new development regarding the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error message? It's quite boring to update all my addons manually...
Hopefully this will help out some other people who might be in the same boat as I was...
I was running a program called NetLimiter which allows you to limit the amount of bandwidth used by applications. The version I was running was one I had been using for a LONG time, version 1.3. Having this installed prevented WAU from working properly. Removing it allowed WAU to work properly. I'm not sure if there is something you can do to the code of WAU to stop that from happening, or even if you need to since it is such an old version...
So I did some research and found another traffic shaping application called DU SuperController version 1.9 and it does not cause any problems with the WAU.
Then I wondered if it was just NetLimiter itself, so I bought the lastest version of NL, 2.0.10 and it does not cause any problems with WAU at all.
Like I said, hope this helps someone else as this was maddening LOL :)
Downloaded some addons for 1st time - noob sorry. installed and ran the aceupdater, latest version from site today and although lists all my addon, when i select update all for 'every' addon i have i get message "Error during update", and loops again and again trying to update and same message continuosly. Click cancel update does nothing. Tried reinstalling updater but same problem. Advice appreciated.
Hi i recently attemptd to install ace updated, it started to install then it cancled the installation and gave me this error:
The following error occurred attempting to install 'C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\U3DPQE4L\WowAceUpdater.application':
"The system cannot find the file specified. "
See the setup log file located at 'C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\VSDFC9.tmp\install.log' for more information.

I am actually having this happen on one of my XP boxes. The desktop hardwired into the network seems to be experiencing this with some but not all addons, while the laptop, either wireless or wired on the same or different network does not experience this problem.
I have reinstalled the application on the desktop but have been experiencing similar results.
18. Some addons are displayed with strikethrough text. Why?
You have not configured your game to "Load Out Of Date Addons", so addons which are "out of date" are indicated with a strikethrough to indicate to you that they wont load if you install them.
You can check the "Load Out Of Date Addons" box in WoW, and the strikethroughs will be removed.
I am experiencing this problem, but my game is set to Load Out of Date Addons, and it still happens. It then goes into a continous run of "Error During Update,(Will Retry Automatically). I am running 1.9.45.711 on a brand new machine running Vista.

Please help!?
You have to reset the permissions on your entire wow folder.
Anyone know why when I set the updater to ignore a mod it won't? I even put an .svn folder inside and it still updates this mod ( I have serenity priest sphere mod installed with an .svn folder inside and it doesn't try to update that one....??)
Do you have "skip working copies" checked in the preferences?
"Skip svn working copies" is checked off, I went in to make sure...and I know that it works because it skips over Serenity sphere mod.WoWAce has a Serenity mod up that adds artwork to the bottom of the screen.
And in the updater it does place MusicStream in that Svn section BUT still updates it. It also says that the last change was 5 days ago and gives a version number, where as Serenity says >30 days and version number "n/a". MusicStream shows faded..outdated,Serenity is solid ..up to date.I even tried to right click on MusicStream and checking off ignore and it STILL updates it.

I got it to list my addons one time so I went to update and it blinked and all the addon info was gone and it will not come back... *sigh*
This is a real pain :( Surely it's not supposed to be this difficult! There has to be something simple I'm missing...
Fwiw, this is what I get now, message wise:
WAU Version (1.9.44.684) assembly version (1.9.44.10088)
Auto-retry of addon list load

That's it. I start it, it says that it's getting list, pauses for a few seconds and then blank window :(
I think that you are running some kind of firewall program or proxy which is blocking WAU.
