Is there any chance we could get a recently added category, or a way to find addons that have been added in the last x period of time? Something distinguishable from addons that have been updated in a period of time? I like to find the new addons to try out and see what the next big thing in the addon world might be. :)
Heya, I just noticed that - http://files.wowace.com/ - looked diffrent cause of what I belive is called "WowAce's Packagemancer". Since I frequentlly visit the site and grab the correct addon names for EU's interface forums I allways found it convinient to just make a page search (CTRL+F) and type in what you want/need or the name of the addon you kinda know.
I therefore request a function to "Show all addons", or to go back to how it looked before, but I would in the same sentence also expres my deepest gratitude to this site and it habitants, you sure make wow a better game then it allready is.

It's already there. Click "Show All" at the end of the "Previous | 1 2 3 4 5 ... 28 | Next | Show All" line.
Since the servers crashed a couple months ago, sometimes you'll get the OP of a thread (which is what you responded to - that was the OP) bumped to the top of a new page. You can see it evidenced in threads like the WAU thread, Pitbull layouts, etc.

Interesting, but I believe the MySQL db was damaged, so I assume the date columns were affected too.
EEK, didn't know anywhere else to put this but this seemed like the righ spot...
In response to what Tek said recently aboutWAU / Files Site / AceSVN, i'd like to put in a request for something more... :D
Allow it to Complile Zips for Addon NOT hosted on the wowace SVN. a Simple idea of allowing a regitered user ( tbd later) to create a new addon, input a address to a SVN server with the exact path to what folder they want compiled. then do a check out with and with out externals. after that publish to files site and subsequently to WAU.
Would it be possible to add a simple rating to the addon list? e.g. like the thottbot-comment-rating-system ( Score 0.75 Vote: [-] [+]) or the stars-system on warcraftmovies.com?
A "read on"-button for the addon description (or sth similar) would be great, too, to have extended descriptions
I am having the problem that I don't want go through all the Ace-Addons and try them out, I started to to that more than once but I gave up when I was on page 13 or so...^^ but I don't want to miss addons which are really great either, so a rating (ranking option by rating would be even better) would be very helpful.
Seems like this thread kind of died out, but anyway here are my thoughts;
Navigation could be vastly improved, personally I can't stand "Page 1, Page 2 Page...n" navigation. A simple search in addition to the categories would be superb. cos 90% of the time, people know what they want.
The header at the top is waisting a lot of space... and when i reduse the size of my window (Firefox) it doubles in height for some reason.
Last update is misleading if only the extensions are updated.
Listing of addons by author, if you like one of them, perhaps there is more good where it came from ;)
Rating for authenticated users, from 1-5, with possibilities of updating it. Some addons start out small and useless, and end up owning.
A direct integration with the AceSVN and Wiki, forum, or a separate system, to allow authors to add a longer description, documentation, and perhaps some screen shots. The "average Jo" only looks at the pictures and downloads what looks nice, the sad truth.
Combine the to XML files, or split them into 3, to much redundancy of information.
Hey ho, Let's go ... THANKS!!! remove the shitty javascript and it's a really cool side
like the web side from fin (http://fin.instinct.org/aceupdates/since/yesterday or so [fin's side still have some trouble with '-.'] but hey better than the wowace.com side...sry - but not everyone is using a stupid download client!!! [WAU or whatever just sucks!])
try http://files.wowace.com/ without javascipt and you are lost - NEVER TRUST A WEBSIDE THAT USES JAVASCRIPT FOR DOWNLOADS!!!

HEY HO!
FYI: None of the three sites in question (files.wowace.com, fin.instinct.org, and ace.chainweb.net) use JavaScript for the actual downloads.
Having said that; my next suggestion would be to stop relying heavily on JavaScript to display the addons on the client and use PHP (PHP has an XML parser built in) to gather the desired addons before displaying them on the client, much like the sites mentioned above (http://ace.chainweb.net/ and http://fin.instinct.org/aceupdates/). This will (not might, will) save load time. As it is now, the client still "displays" all of the addons (1,491 as of the time of this post), whether visible to the user or not, which takes time. Also, JavaScript is easy to disable and some aspects are not supported on all platforms.
Yeah, I know, this thread hasn't seen any action in two months, but I felt like it needed to be said.
*hrm*

I created the following page to illustrate some possible improvements: http://ace.chainweb.net/index.php?category=Combat&search=fubar (got to love XML :D )
Thank you for your time :)

Had forgotten about this page actually, and now it's JS free :)
