Crashing again (Value outside expected ranges blah blah blah). It seems that the Updater gets a lot of updates made to it for being an unsupported mod. Are there really THAT many problems that need to be fixed that it has to be broken every other time it's "fixed"? And it's odd that I can tell WAU to not update any particular mod I want, but there's no option for "don't update yourself". Just kinda... counter intuitive.
I've noticed that WAU now constantly uses a ton of CPU time when left idling. I typically leave it running, but now I'm having to close it before running WoW to avoid impacting my framerates.
- avoids WAU's not-insignificant startup time when i'm in a rush, which is usually the case when i get home from work right before raids
- allows me to quickly search/add/remove/reinstall/update WowAce addons on the fly instead of having to re-open the updater every time i think of something
- allows me to browse the generated composite changelog in a piecemeal fashion via alt-tabbing repeatedly during boring raid trash, so that i can keep up with any interesting changes
I hope you aren't implicitly suggesting that a disdain for my usage patterns might somehow invalidate the seriousness of needless, constant high CPU usage.

Isn't WAU being shutdown in about 4 weeks, when Ace starts utilizing Curse Forge? And since it's already been said that WAU is no longer going to be updated, unless it's an easy fix, I'd gather that they won't work too hard to fix the cpu usage.
Speaking of changing over to Curseforge ( I hope that's correct), I don't want to use their updater! It installs it's own information gathering mod ( Uses memory, and yes,I do know it can be turned off). But I still don't care for the updater...various reasons.WoWAce updater is easy to use, even setting some mods to be ignored is easy.
If we have to use that updater, I really hope it's improved (IMO)
Yeah, I noticed that too. That is a pretty bad thing to do.. Include stuff you havent asked for. :-/
The only gathering tool I'm using is that from wowhead.
And I still have issues with the Curseclient overwriting addons with the same name I have downloaded from wowinterface. Maybe I did something wrong but its annoying.
It appears that many mods that were not posted at Curse are showing up....and they look to be updated. When I run WoWAceUpdater it's proning to crashing and not showing hardly any updates. Is it the end??
I'm trying to get used the the Curse updater...
Yes, WowAceUpdater IS DEAD. It will not be updated, it will not be used at all anymore. In fact in some odd days, perhaps hours (heck, perhaps it's already the case) it will not be able to access the addons anymore.
Curse Client is all we will have to use for a while. That or manual updating. I think that at a later time (it's in development right now), with a premium curse account you can get an api key that allows other programs (again they don't exist yet) to download/update from curse and therefore from wowace.
Please be patient and everything will work out in the long term, migrations like this always takes time to work out all the bugs and get used to the new way of doing things. There will be some things that are better (hopefully only release quality work being downloaded to people who don't opt in specifially to alpha/beta quality addons and therefore end users will get good content not drycoded crap once and a while because they updated at the wrong time) and some that are worse (hard to beat WAU).
Everybody is talking about "I want WAU" or "CC is crappy". And ignoring the fact that there will be a "premium Curse account"... The majority of us who are not earning US Dollars or Euro have to live with manual updating just like it was when WoW launched :p
A clear separation of the Western world and the Eastern world, as well as, the 1st World Countries and the 3rd World Countries ;)
It is understandable of course, no worries about that, I just want to mention that.

Through the magic of paypal I wouldn't be surprised if we'll be able to accept payments in many many currencies.

Ditto. Happy camper now. :)
Same here. Updated after another crash.
Thanks a lot to the one(s) who fixed it
