I finally uninstalled it. Now.. I'm not good at computers so I don't really know what was going on. But what I do know is that wowaceupdater never gave me problems, (I use Windows XP) and curse has broken my addons so many times it's a good thing I had a backup of my interface folder. There are some addons that have been continued where curse reinstalled the old, nonfunctioning one because of same name or something, and today I ran curse client and logged in to get an error from LibDogTag-3.0 and Libdogtag-unit 3.0 where my hp and target hp were no longer being shown on pitbull. I tried manually installing the libs and had to roll back to my old pitbull. So.. I'm done, I guess. I LOVED wau and it's going to be hard going back to manually updating.
Seajewel, while I completely understand why you feel it'll be hard to do manual updates, I would like to say that I do think that given time, CC will mature, the kinks will get ironed out and average users can be merry again with their wowace fix :)
What you can do temporarily is use an alternative updater, like JavaWoWUpdater. It is able to pull from various UI sites, though I don't think it can still get addons from Curse. But several wowace/curse addons have a copy on WoWInterface as well. So it's worth trying. Those that are only available through wowace/curse, you can create a bookmark folder and bookmark the project pages for those addons and grab it like that. No more than once a week tops, you can check and if needed grab an update. :)

Honestly, have you guys never taken a few minutes to look at the tools available on the major addon sites? There's no reason to ever bookmark pages or check sites. Mark an addon as a favorite, turn on email notification of updated favorites (if it's not enabled by default), and then sit back and do nothing. If there's an update, you'll get an email message, usually with a direct download link. I keep seeing people talk about how hard it is to update manually, and it amazes me that so many people have no idea how easy it can be if you use the tools that are freely given to you.
Phanx, I rather like to have an RSS-feed about my favourites than a lot of spammy email in my mailbox :) That's why I love WoWInterface and that's what I miss the latest Curseforge version - I don't know why it was removed (yeah, I can still find the file update RSS, but I'm lazy as hell... )
Something I'd like to see... limit the listed addons to actual WoWAce addons ONLY. Basically just the stuff that was on WAU. I stopped going to Curse, WorldofWar, etc for a reason... I like WoWAce addons.

I pretty much hate RSS feeds... every one I've ever subscribed to has ended up spamming me with duplicates of every message on the feed since the beginning of time every few weeks, and I've never seen an RSS reader that liked.
Also -- do make sure to try build 14 before giving up completely. I haven't yet, but it's supposedly better.
Actually it is:
- it has got an "activity windows" to see what it did.
- it remembers its settings correctly,
- you can choose to install release, beta or alpha quality packages globally and per addon (though alpha does not work yet due to lack of support server-side).
Moreover, now that all old files.wowace.com files have been uploaded, most addons are available even if they have not been tagged since the switchover. Though that does not depend on the CC client it is a improvement compared to day 1.
As of now it does not handle "without external" mode (now called "no-lib" mod).
As it is not very smart in recognizing already installed addons, I recommend you to rename your AddOns folder, recreate and empty one and reinstall all addons using CC. And finally copy the addons that are not hosted by Curse. That does not take more than 5 minutes and once you did that the CC works nicely.
I will not say CC is awesome but given WAU is dead, it is now so bad and it is still improving.

I use the favorites, and yes, it's easy. I don't know why, but upon waking up the bookmarking was the first idea that came to mind. I also don't know how well favorites work on non-wowace/wowi sites, since I don't use those sites.

So far my experience with build 14 is much better. I dare say it may even be good enough to use! Only, now the Curse servers are going down every few minutes... it was too much to hope that they built enough capacity for Big Patch Day (TM). But beside that... good job so far on the new client version.
Edit: If any of the CC devs read this thread -- the client really should give some visual indication when it can't connect to the server or some error occurs. It does give an error when logging in. But I'm already logged in, trying to "Install Selected" add-on from the list. Clicking that button literally does nothing at all, because the server is going down. Keep clicking and if the servers become available, it'll magically work at some point. A message would be nice here for non-power-users.

JWowUpdater can use Curse just fine. To keep from slogging through false positives from Curse's search, I'll still search here, then copy the Download from Curse link into JWU.

I completely agree with this. I installed CC, but due to server overloads the updates are coming in very slow, so I restored my backup, but will try again after patch day. :) The only downfall imho is a few missing indicators of actions.
eg. a progress mention, this could open a third tab, focus on it, and print out "Queuing addon x..." "Downloading addon x..." "Installing addon x..." It would help a lot in keeping people from panicking.
And my next point was made by Allara regarding a notification about the server loads which could influence updates. Seems silly, but can be soothing again.
i'm baffled. I have tons of addons. The curse client shows the latest of Oct 9 for about 2 addons. The rest are older. For example, on the website I see questhelper as today. On the CC the lastest date was Oct 9.

Sure! Just let me find a round room for you...
