Just posting to show some love for WUU, my favorite addon updater ever!
Been using WUU ever since WAU went offline, so it's been quite a while. I love the independent nature of it (not tied to 1 site), and it JUST WORKS.
Love the 1 button update, being able to choose to update or not, checking online versions, color coding, etc. I also love that it doesn't try to take over my computer/spam me with ads or donate buttons/etc.
Love the easy updating of the WUU program itself.
It's just a great program in general, thanks for making/maintaining WUU!
-----
@Wowace people: I know you're basically the same as the Curse people now, hurry up and fix your site so that WUU can use it automatically again already! >:( It's been forever, you can't figure out a way to let WUU through and block Wowmatrix (if people are even still using that POS)? I have to get most of my addons from WoWInterface, though there are a few that are only on Curse.
-----
Feature request that I just thought of. On the side pane where it has author and other information, would it be possible to pull some data from the websites about an addon's changes? Most places like WoWInterface and Curse have a "changelog" tab or page, could you pull the text from there and display it in WUU?
There are a few addons out there where you don't want to always update the moment you see a new version (buggy, unofficial user fix version like SCT has, potentially unstable, don't want the new features like Gearscore has, etc). I've been manually checking the addon websites for any problematic versions, but if I could see that info in WUU directly, that would be amazing.

WoWAce is a developer site, not a distribution site. You should only be downloading AddOns from there if you're a tester or don't care when things blow up in your face.

Also, the problem with a site-interdependent updater is that those sites don't get any money from the ads displayed. Those pesky ads that keep sites like these alive, seriously they do :)
Still using this addon and it works great. I really hope you guys don't ever discontinue it.
I was hoping someone could help me with my problem here.
I want to install the DBM Alpha client. Setting the friendly name to DBM-Core, source site to DBM, and Site ID to 6 does not seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi joroesan,
Try using Addon Directory: DBM-GUI, Friendly Name: Deadly Boss Mods, Source Site: CurseGaming, Site Id: deadly-boss-mods

Thanks for your reply. I did see this earlier. I am just very slow to reply because I constantly forget my wowace password! Unless I am mistaken (please forgive me if I'm assuming too much) but this will only download the current version of DBM. I am interested in downloading the Alpha. In addition, I was trying to get the site to work with the official DBM website, which I think is (or was, if they changed the layout) supported. The normal version on their website is siteid: 1 I believe, but the alpha is listed as siteid: 6. http://www.deadlybossmods.com/ Thanks for your help, any help is appreciated! For now, I just update it manually, no huge deal.
Looks like WoWInterface has changed their layout and broken the existing site RegExp. I got it working again by changing the SITE_RE.TXT file. Specifically, I replaced...
wowi_version Date:.+?"smallfont">(\d{2})-(\d{2})-(\d{4})\s(\d{2}):(\d{2})\s(\w{2})

Even after flushing all WUU caches the regexp does not catch the date...is there anything more that has to be done? I checked the Website's source code and really got no clue why your new regexp isn't working for me...it should -.-

My apologies - I should have specified which SITE_RE.TXT to change (for some reason, WUU installs several copies of that file). As Anteract pointed out, the one that needs to be modified is the one under C:\USERS\<username>\WUU (at least that should be the path for anyone running Windows Vista or Windows 7).
Considering the thread you just necro'd is about a year old, and the last update to the SourceForge project page is nearly that old, I'd guess the project is dead. I don't know of any other multi-site updaters, but there are so few addons that are only posted on WoWI that it's really not that hard to just set up an RSS feed or email notifications and update those addons by hand, and use the Curse Client for everything else.
Locking this thread for now to prevent further pointless necroing.
Lejordet, if you do return to the project, feel free to PM me or just report this post to get the thread unlocked again.

Meaning none of my Addons are recognised or updated- however, when I try to visit http://wuu.vagabonds.info/version.txt in my browser it works fine.

with...
wowi_version Updated:.+?"alt2">(\d{2})-(\d{2})-(\d{4})\s(\d{2}):(\d{2})\s(\w{2})
Thank you, worked perfect for me.
Even after flushing all WUU caches the regexp does not catch the date...is there anything more that has to be done? I checked the Website's source code and really got no clue why your new regexp isn't working for me...it should -.-
I have the same problem :(
The file I am changing, on my computer, lives in:
C:\Users\myname\WUU
Is that the one you are changing?
My apologies - I should have specified which SITE_RE.TXT to change (for some reason, WUU installs several copies of that file). As Anteract pointed out, the one that needs to be modified is the one under C:\USERS\<username>\WUU (at least that should be the path for anyone running Windows Vista or Windows 7).
Working for me too now, I was changing the site_re.txt in the WUU program directory previously.
Thanks guys :)
