Is there any way to search in PeriodicTable-3.1 for an Item by itemID or itemName? Or is there a way to add items to a manual filter without having that item actually?
You can try AdiBags_PT3Filter but I think there is no exception thing. Beside that, I think you should be able to add your items through the configuration panel (in filter configuration).
First I'd like to say that so far I love your addon. I'm a very long time Baggins user, and although I've tried nearly every possible bag addon out there, AdiBags is so far the only one that I've considered giving up Baggins for.
Don't get me wrong, Baggins is still awesome, but it seems like the more I use it the slower it gets. So far I'm enjoying the lightning fast response of AdiBags while still maintaining much of the functionality that I enjoyed with Baggins.
Anyway, there are a couple things that I wanted to mention:
1) So far I'm very pleased with the manual filters, although I did notice that they unfortunately lose much of the smart item sorting that I found to be extremely helpful as a crafter. For example, I noticed that all of the herbs and pigments by default are sorted by item level, which is great when milling.
Then I noticed that all of the inks and pigments were all mixed together in an "other" section, so I made my own filters for them. Visually that works great, but I noticed they're now no longer sorted by item level. Is there some way of restoring that same smart sorting within manual filters, or is that something not yet implemented?
It seems like the code which makes the bag frame automatically resize and reshape itself to cut down on empty space is a little overaggressive. Unless I turn off the Track New Items module, nearly every single time that I move items between my bags and my bank it constantly changes the size of both frames. Even with it off, they still tend to frequently flip between "portrait" and "landscape" modes, if you will, quite often.
My suggestion, and please take this with a grain of salt since I don't even know if this is possible, would be to simply not resize the frame at all except for when it's being freshly drawn. By this I mean while your bags/bank are open it won't automatically resize the frame, but it will as soon as you close and reopen them. This could be an option that people could toggle, and in my opinion would cut down on a lot of accidental misclicks while moving lots of things at a time.
Speaking of new item tracking, I love this module and would like to have it on full time, but I would also like to see more options available. For example, it'd be nice to have the option to not track new items while you're in a city (or resting, whichever is easiest to code). The reason for this, is personally it seems silly to have stuff that I just pulled out of my mailbox or bank highlighted as new items, when all I did was move them around a bit. Know what I mean?
That's just my opinion though, of course.
It would also be great to have bulk filters for the Track New Items module. For example you could have a small and simple list of exclusions. This could include items such as herbs, ore, glyphs, cloth, gems, etc. Essentially my goal would be to simply have it highlight items of interest that I just obtained (looted gear, quest items, rewards, etc) and ignore the majority of the most common items like trade goods and such that I handle on a regular basis.
The one thing that I really really do miss from Baggins is my Disenchant filter. Essentially this custom filter sorted all of the equipment which was Bind on Equip into its own category. This was amazingly helpful because all of the BoEs that I picked up in my travels could easily be sent to my enchanter for DE, and the rest of the soulbound quest rewards were easily vendored.
Now they're all clumped together in the armor category, and I find myself slowly examining each items tooltip to see if it's BoE or Soulbound before deciding what to do with it. Then checking the buyback tab at the vendor to make sure I didn't vendor anything I could've DE'd or sold on the auction house, because I'm paranoid like that lol.
I realize that this is a longshot because you've said that for the addon to detect an items bind status it would require tooltip scanning, which is a massive resource hog.
I wouldn't want you to do anything that would sacrifice the performance of AdiBags since that's the main reason I switched to it in the first place over Baggins, but I'd still like to put this out there. If there were some way to already do this that I overlooked, or some other way to implement such a feature without tooltip scanning, that would be absolutely amazing.
This is getting much longer than I first expected, so I'll end it here. Even if nothing I proposed gets implemented, I still think this addon is great, and thank you for everything you've put into it. Every friend that I've recommended this to thinks it's the best bag addon they've ever seen.
One of my friends even ditched us in the middle of a dungeon to go download it after I explained how much better this is over something like Bagnon.
;D
Edit: Also wanted to mention that since these were for the most part just suggestions, I didn't think it was appropriate to make support tickets for them. However, if you would like me to I'd be more than happy to oblige.
Edit 2: One more question. I've never used the donation function through curse before, and the paypal description is in french lol. Does the full amount go directly to you?
I've been using this a couple of weeks. There are a few things that annoy the heck out of me, but when I tried to revert back to Bagnon I found I'd rather be annoyed with AdiBags than use Bagnon. This is the best idea for inventory control by far. I'm just getting comfortable with adjusting filters, and I'll be trying out the PT3 filter shortly.
I really, really, really want to see my alt/bank bags. Tooltip-based alt/bank information is way too limited. I may have a greater essence in my bag and the tooltip will tell me if there are more in the bank but it doesn't tell me if there are lesser essences, and it tells me absolutely nothing if I don't have the item in my bag. Guild bank isn't as important to me, personally, and I can see how it would be difficult to decide where to put an item a player dropped into the guild bank. But would it be possible to provide a read-only display when the player is not at the bank?
The tendency to drastically rearrange the bag frame when moving items is also annoying. When moving items into the bags, I can see why the layout needs to be adjusted. It's just a bit disconcerting when I have to stop and look for the section that just moved from the top of the frame to the bottom, or readjust frame positions because the bank frame just laid itself over everything else. (Given this behavior, is there anyone who locks their frames in place?) But when moving items out of the bags, sometimes the layout of the section changes and sometimes it doesn't. I believe that most of the complaints I read would be addressed if the layout did not change when moving an item out of the bags.
Edit: Installed the PT3 filter, but it seems I have to already know the names of the PT3 categories and I can't find a reference. Could someone please direct me? Thanks.

What's the purpose of "moving things around a bit" if you're using AdiBags??

If Adirelle would allow this addon: BindingTheory to overlay as it's surpose to would solve this problem:
or better yet, implement the feature in AdiBags or optional as a plugin.
Staying in the same 'ballpark' (overlays)..
I've used cargBags_Nivaya in the past and actually got the author of the core addon(cargBags),
make changes to a plugin he did not make(_Nivaya), to implement a feature from a third addon: ReqLevelIcon
which as name suggests overlays level of item and colors the number respectivly to your toons level (green=usable / red=unusable)
I know both of these addons are old/outdated but they still work as intended on their own,
problem is to make them work with AdiBags ;-)
Generally-speaking, I LOVE, LOVE this add-on. Here are some issues I'm having, with the ones I think are most important and/or feasible first and moving to things I think are less important and/or harder to implement. If there's a way to do these things that I haven't found, someone pls respond and let me know how. If not, pls consider adding them to the next update.
1. I cannot figure out how to reassign an item to a default category that has nothing else in it. Let me give you an example. I had one item in the default "Miscellaneous" category and I accidentally moved it to another category. When I did so, Miscellaneous disappeared from my bag so I could not drag and drop it back into that category. All of my user-created filters appear in the options menu (and I can drag items into there) whether they are in my bag at that moment or not, but the default filters do not. This is my biggest frustration. Having a section in options to drag items into the default categories would solve this, as would suggestion 4. below.
2. Pls consider having an option to propagate a change throughout all current profiles. I started with a basic profile, which I altered to fit my diff toons professions and needs, but if, for instance, I pick up an item I didn't initially have or want to switch something around, I'd like to be able to change the filter for that item for all my profiles.
3. Pls consider having a small portion of the bag or one filter which contains items you DO NOT want to move around when filters reorganize themselves, for instance healing potions that you might have to get at quickly.
4. It would be super nice to be able to click (or key+click or have an edit mode button) an item and select the appropriate filter from a list, in addition to drag and drop. This would fix problem 1. above and could fix 2. as well, if you allowed a player to select from a "set filter for this profile" list or a "set filter for all profiles" list.
5. Pls consider not rearranging the order of categories until the bag is closed and reopened again. I know this is not as simple as it sounds - if a lot is moved, the bag frame may need to temporarily get bigger or the items inside zoomed out to make them all fit, but it would make organizing the bag much easier.
6. Final, (little) bug - with the user-defined filters, when I make a filter that contains lots of items, sometimes there is not a blank space at the end for dragging new items into. Also, sometimes the icons for some items don't appear in the options menu, but if I mouse-over, it has the name of the item, just not the icon. And lastly, sometimes the list of item icons runs overtop of the next filter title. These are all just UI problems, though, bc all the items are still in the appropriate filter, it just looks messy (and is hard to add new items without the blank space).
Okay, sorry this is so long, but the suggestions are things I don't think would be too hard that would make this already excellent add-on even better! Thanks for making/maintaining it!
That allows you to combine your bags into a single, larger one, yet gives you the power to choose which bags to combine. Complete with a user-friendly graphical menu for changing how your bags will display.
Please to meet you! Out of all the bag addons out there, yours is by far my favorite. I just downloaded tonight, and already, I feel a could of frustration lifted from my shoulders. However, after some searching, I could not find the options to do a few things, and if any member could point in the right direction, it'd be much appreciated.
1. How to make section without associating category?
I made another "Section" by manually filtering and drag-dropping an item and naming the section. However, a drop-down menu asks me which category I want associated with these items. I do no want any category associated. I just want those items lumped together--without lumping an additional category.
2. How to reorder a section?
For example, say I have hearthstone, fishing pole, and fishing lure in the section I made. How can I move those items into that order, respectively? If I try to override the automatic ordering, the items just pop back into place. (Would like to be able to put certain items in order for some groups)
3. REORDERING SECTIONS?
This one really kills me. I have quests and trade goods (read:stuff to sell) at the top of the window and my section (one that I want to access quickly) at the bottom. Haven't found a way to reorder the sections.
4. Bag slot number?
Not sure if this is a feature that I can't find or a request for a feature: when displaying tooltip upon modifer keydown, to be able to see the slot number of blizzard bag. For example, 2nd slot in backpack is 0 2. This would help with my macros for equipping weapons/fishing pole/attaching lures/consuming consumables, etc.
Thanks again for writing such a great addon, Adirelle!
1. How to make section without associating category?
3. REORDERING SECTIONS?
Thanks again for writing such a great addon, Adirelle!
These two are somewhat related as the sorting is Category > Section (alphabetical). Sections could really be thought of as subcategories, if that helps your thinking.
If I understand your questions correctly, I've done what you're after by naming sections so they display in the order I prefer within each category. For example, I made several Crafting Mats sections, both a generic one and for specific professions, within Consumables category. This lets me see at a glance where my mats are. Within the Trade Goods category I made LW, BS, and Tailoring Goods groups. This helps keep my crafted gear for sale out of my equipment groups.
I also made a section (1 Essentials) in my Equipment category for my hearthstone, Gnomish Swiss Army knife, fishing pole, etc. This way it always displays in front of my gear. You could do a (z YourSectionName) in Miscellaneous category to put it last, I think. I don't know how to order items within the section though and noticed on my 40ish blacksmith tonight that her keys were being kept ahead of her hearthstone now. Ah, well.
Hope that helps some! Maybe there is a better way than I've found so far, but this has sure made things infinitely better for me.
Adirelle, I love this addon and only wish I hadn't taken 2 years to find it. :D
1. How to make section without associating category?
As cjfowler said, items are dispatched by section inside categories. By default, AdiBags is using the classification of the auction house : first and second levels are used for category and section names.
Categories are not shown in the bags but they are used to sort the sections and to keep them together. Right now, the category ordering is fixed in DefaultFilters.lua to this :
Quest
Trade Goods
Equipment
Consumable
Miscellaneous
Ammunition (this is one is a pre-Cataclym leftover)
Junk
Inside each categories, the sections are sorted by name.
However, the display order eventually depends on your "Layout priority" setting :
Strictly keep ordering: order by category then section names.
Group sections of same category: keep all the sections of the same category together but ignore internal ordering to optimize space usage.
Fill lines at most: ignore ordering to optimize space usage.
Manual item reordering is not possible at this time and I don't think I will add this feature. This would be awful to code and probably awful to configure as an user.
This one is easy : there is a built-in "Tooltip information" module, that should do exactly what you want by pressing any modifier key while mouving the mouse over an item. If it doesn't, then this a bug and you should fill a ticket.
Hi. I've been using Adibags since the beginning of WoD and I find it really handy. One thing I'd like to know is, is there anyway of stopping enchanting vellum (or other specific reagents) from being deposited into my reagent bank? The only thing I can think of is that I know you can set a bag to "ignore cleanup and deposit", but I'm not sure how to do that in adibags.
I was wondering if it would be possible to have an option to turn off item levels in the bags? I use PAWN for finding item upgrades and the item level text is on top of the arrows that indicate a possible upgrade. It makes it difficult to tell at a glance if something is useful.
Hello Everyone, is that an addition to filtering that would section out Darkmoon cards so they are not under quests as well as keeping each type of card grouped up with the others of its type? Right now darkmoon cards just sit under the quest section and group A's together, 2's, 3's and so on.
Of late I've started wrtiting my own plugins for AdiBags, utilising the published plugins of others as a base for my own custom groupings (as I am not a coder). I've read through all files in the AdiBags core addon, but cannot figure out how to achieve what I want even if I strongly suspect it can be done within the addon as it's currently written.
I've gotten my plugins working very well, but one thing which would be fantastic for improving outcomes would be the capacity to dispatch my item groupings to a category - even the seven listed here would give huge utility. For example, I have a group for caches & chests which I'd love to sort to the Quest category so they appear towards the front end of my bags.
I'm struggling to make this work however - I just can't figure out how to dispatch a group of items to a category or section. Currently all my item groupings are dispatched into the same Category and Section based on the outcome of the MatchIDs function, e.g.
Refer to the attached image to see how this then looks.
Is there any way to associate this item match with, for example, move ores to the existing TRADE_GOODS category? This appears to be able to be done using manual filters, but using a custom plugin is just so much better.
Ideally I'd love to have the flexibility to align any matched grouping of items with both a category and a section, with also the capacity to set up a sort order for sections.
Naturally, I do not use the 'compact layout' option as this would eliminate the flexibliity I'm looking for.
If anyone knows how to do this, I'd appreciate the help!
