Is there a somewhat simple way, as in find this, cut and paste that, to combine two Grid SavedVariables files? I'd like to use/try out someone else's Grid profile and layout without totally replacing or swapping out my own Grid.lua file, and if possible, combine them into one, so I can load any layout in game.
First thing that comes to my mind is if you use Notepad++, you can fold code by syntax, which basically mean that you can open one of the files and reduce the whole profile to just one or two lines, which will make c&p much easier.
(e) I had a second suggestion here, but that wouldn't work.
I'm having a problem where logging and relogging, but more often joining/leaving groups will move my grid around my screen, even when i have it locked. Am I overlooking something?
1. Check your anchor settings. If you have the layout anchor set to top left, then when the layout size changes, the frame will "move" so that the top left corner remains in the same place. You may have your layout anchor set to something other than the one you want.
2. Make sure you're not using any third-party layout plugins. There are several plugins that auto-switch your whole profile when your group size/type changes, which would probably cause the frame to be in a different place.
Forgive me if I'm just blind, but I've spent some time looking and I can't see how to recreate my old grid layout with the new Grid.
I had it sorting by class, and it would keep the 10 classes organized in columns. The best I can do now is have it sort by class and it seems to just add each player into a growing 5x5 container, keeping units of the same class together, but the location of those unit frames changes as people join or leave the raid.
Is there a way to have 10 containers, each for its own class this way? Or even better, a way to keep roles together in 4 containers?
I don't see where I can increase or decrease the maximum number of units in a row either.

Those options are all controlled by the layout, and are not available through an in-game UI. You can either (1) modify the layout yourself by opening GridLayoutLayouts.lua in a plain-text editor like Notepad, or (2) use the Grid_SquishyClass plugin that already exists to provide exactly the layout you describe.
I'd also like to hide the border, but it look like I can't set the border size to 0 anymore. Is there another way to set that?
What border are you talking about? There has never been an option to set the border width for individual frames to 0; if you don't want to see a border, simply don't set any statuses to show on the border. There has also never been any option at all to change the border width for the layout/backdrop frame.
Thanks, I'll try that squishy layout plugin you recommended.

I'm talking about the border around the entire grid, not each individual unit frame. I may have been able to set the opacity of the border to 0 before. I was able to hide it somehow.
for grid 1 there used to be a macro command which would show the grid frame in any a x b square.
I tried to fake this layout by selecting 40 man raid (or any other) but as long as i am solo grid will only show a single 1x8 bar, but i would like to see a 5x8 bar.
The Problem is that my cast bar got stuck in grid, and to configure it properly i need to be out of combat, or i have an interface issue and afking in AV i do not see as a "fair" solution towards the other players.
Does this command still exist, or would it be possible to implement it?
I am having a problem with grid showing out of line of site players it currently is showing even if im not even in the same zone that they are able to get healz when they are not. Basically what im trying to say is grid is always showing players in line of site even though they are not. How do I fix this. It seems that I just updated grid and when I did this it broke. Please help

If you're using an alpha version, roll back to the last release version. The range system is in the middle of an overhaul, and alphas may or may not work at any given moment.
I've tried the alpha and works fine except one thing: when I'm crowd controlled (fear, sheep etc), everybody around shows out of range. This is very frustrating since I would normally use the time I cannot control my character to plan what I will do first when I'm back to normal again. Which, being as I play a healer, means most likely healing someone around, and not being able to tell at a glance who's in range is severely limiting the judgment of the situation.
Apologies if this is simply due to the range module overhaul, but I fear it's due to how the Blizzard API works, so I guess I just wanna highlight it early if that's the case and you have not noticed yet.
Alpha versions are development snapshots. Basically, they are whatever I happened to be working on when the packager ran. They are NOT "release ready". They may be buggy, or totally broken. They may not have been tested at all. They may erase your settings, wipe your raid, or cause your computer to explode. They are not supported. If you want to use them to see what's being worked on, feel free, but don't expect any official support. The range module is currently undergoing major changes, and should not be expected to work correctly at this time.
Has anyone else had issues with 4.06? I experience interface lag when raiding with grid on. My latency is fine but as soon as there are a lot of casts / heals going on my all my actions are delayed and eventually i dc.
I have no idea what you're asking. Please try again using comprehensible English. If English is not your native language, post your question in your native language, and I'm sure I can find a machine-translation service that will give a more comprehensible result than what you posted.
I have a (small) problem that probably isn't grid's fault, but I'm not sure of this and I have no idea where else to ask.
Sometimes some things stop to work midgame (a ui-reload fixes this). I'm led to believe that the event API stops working, but I have nothing to really check it. Grid would still show healthbars alright and GridStatusHots works normally, but most other things don't... in particular, RaidCooldowns and TankCooldowns aren't shown anymore, and the healing prediction doesn't work anymore, too (not working = not showing anything even though I'm sure there's something that should be shown). Also, any combat-log addon I use (skada + death note) stops recording, nothing shows up anymore.
The problem seems not to appear midfight, but just sometime inbetween and I'd of course notice in a fight, where it's quite annoying. Did anybody encounter this problem, or does anyone have an idea what could happen here? I use a variety of addons, and I can't really test out if one is doing this, because the error is so infrequent and non-reproducable. Thanks for any hint on this :)
Since the patch on tuesday i am having a problem with Grid in raids. The grey border box and the colored player boxes are not lined up. The player boxes are shifted down, half in, half out of the grey box. Been going crazy trying to fix this. Works fine in 5 man parties. Only happens in raids. Any clue?
