    posted a message on Squishy 0.10 [2006/08/22]

Just loaded Squishy today and got this error:

[23:19-843] AceEvent-2.0: Cannot unregister event "CHAT_MSG_CHANNEL_NOTICE". "AceEvent-2.0" is not registered with it.
    ---

This happens after each reload as well. I did not update any other addon, so I know it's Squishy doing it.

posted a message on How to make a lightweight interface

Warmup isn't the mod you should be looking at, it's FuBar + Fubar_PerformanceFu which gives you a good idea of what mods are eating up your resources. Overal UI memory usage isn't as important as KB/s eaten up -- how quickly you reach your threshold.

Warmup's numbers can be deceiving, as some mods do resource-intensive things at startup (like Visor) but take up much less space afterwards.

posted a message on how to do delayed emotes... Timex?
    If this still works,

    http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php/topic,673.0.html

Does exactly what you're asking. You can set it to say something as a spell starts casting, and something to say when the spell is successfully cast, among all kinds of other events. You can set it to say something randomly, like a 30% chance of one of 10 sayings.

But it won't work if the spell is cast from a function or within a macro, it has to be on your action bar slot, for some reason. I'll have to take a look at the mod.

Edit: I just realized the original post was about a week and a half ago. Well, better late then never...

My personal collection of functions that I find useful, and a few that I just added for fun. Mostly intended for macros.

Just throwin' it out there to see if anyone else might find any of the functions useful.

posted a message on Reported (v0.3) Update 5-27-06 -- New, Simple non-Ace Addon
How did you test this without annoying the GMs with useless spam?

As Tekkub said, this still causes the "Open Ticket" window to appear, which allows you to see what's entered and edit it before a GM looks at it. This doesn't open the GM UI though, it uses NewGMTicket to submit automatically after you confirm. If you need to change any information, you have plenty of time to edit your ticket before a GM gets to it.

One of the reasons I wrote this mod was because of bug reporting, as I can't be sure they collect the very useful information of zone, loc, subzone, and submit time. I also play on a RP server, and reporting names the old fashioned way is a PAIN.

posted a message on "Safer" Master Looter Addon

If we could take this idea and make it into a Lua addon, then get enough raiding guilds to use it, then Blizzard would probably implement something like this into the game, (hopefully) destroying the blatant security holes of doing it in Lua:

Safe(r) Master Looter: When we come down to it, this is just a game, and even the most trustworthy people can decide to turn your misery into their fun. To create a little more safety in large raids, a group is designed Master Looter instead of a single player. This group functions just like a Master Looter, except they must all confirm a Master Looter action taken by any in the group.

posted a message on Combatlog Options Mod?

This has been exactly my latest project, but recently I've been a little sidetracked with actually playing WoW and updating VitalWatch. I hope to include the functions of these mods in separate modules, which I am coding from the ground up:

    HitsMode
    SpellAlert
    DamageMeters / Recap
    CombatSentryGizmo (show possible targets)
    KLHThreatMeter
    sct
    etc.

I stopped for a while because it needed a GUI and I don't like to make my own GUI, and I needed an easy way to translate for non-English languages. Recently ckknight has made TabletLib and BabbleLib which will serve my purposes nicely, so I'm back on track.

Why doesn't reporting to a GM have a nifty slash command? Well now it does! I made this addon in about 15 minutes, and although I haven't thoroughly tested it, it's so simple I must be insane if it doesn't work. It can't get past only having one ticket open at a time though, this is a server limitation. I didn't Ace it because it's just so tiny and simple. Maybe not 100% optimized, but simple.

    /rep or /reported

    Changes:

    v0.3
    - A helpful GM told me that naming violations go under Behavior/Harassment, not Gameplay.

    v0.2
Forgot to use elseif instead of else if. Also added server-side time to the submission.

posted a message on Experimental: AceOptions
After looking over my initial idea and the ideas already suggested, I realize that it would probably be best just to expand AceGUI instead of making something separate. A lot of options we would need to add to "ChatOptions" are options we would need to add to AceGUI objects anyway. Here are some of the things which we could add/change: to AceGUI

chat -- This is a reference to the particular chat option this GUI object is refering to. IE: AddonLocale.ChatOptions.foo. Obviously if this doesn't exist, then this GUI object does not refer to a chat option.

title -- If chat is set, then this doesn't need to be set since it can just use chat.option.

get -- This would be either the name of the variable being modified in your database, or a reference to a function to get the value. This can also be nil, in cases where state information doesn't need to be saved (and the option itself would probably be shown as a regular button).

help -- This would be the tooltip help shown when mousing over the option. If left nil, it tries to use the desc from the "help" option in chat.args, if it exists.

fill -- This should accept a string, a reference to a table, or a reference to a function. (It's used in ListBoxes and Dropdown menus).

range -- This would be used for Sliders and the like. Again, this should be able to handle either strings (like Rowne suggested) or a reference to a function which returns a string with the min and max.

method -- Tells the GUI to use a different method instead of using chat.method. This can either be a string or a reference to a function.

Except for when method is set, the regular chat option method could be called with the proper arguments. To prevent ChatFrame1 from being flooded, an alternative to self.cmd:msg and the like could be made which checks if the options GUI is currently showing. Usually, there should be no need to make a new method, and not all chat options are setting a value anyway.

Visor is a good example of where not only would be cumbersome to try and translate its chat options directly into a standerized GUI, it would be a waste of energy since the already existing customized GUI is so far along. If given an "Easy GUI Making Tool", I'm sure Tain would have done his chat options differently anyway.

Good Idea. But if you're looking for a new name, I like "BagDefrag" -- alliteration!

    That's not alliteration...

    Cartas's correct -- it's a homoioptoton. I couldn't remember the name, so I just said alliteration.

posted a message on Request: AceMoveAnything!
VisorGUI is intended to be the friendly frontend to Visor, like MoveAnything. It isn't that difficult...

    1) Bind a key to Visor's "Frame Name Grabber". I use CTRL+F. The Frame Name Grabber will grab the name of whatever frame your mouse is hovering over set it as the active frame in Visor.
    2) Bind a key to Visor's "Nudge" function for each direction. I use CTRL+ALT+Arrow Keys.

Now you have an easy way to grab and move frames. It may not be as easy as click-'n-drag, but I bet that's in VisorGUI's future. Just give it time.
