imho, get incubator and just watch the timers for respawns and announce them at regular intervals.

tends to put ppl on end when you announce in raid that they got 10mins before they hit the respawn wave and that they'll have to start over at the beggining of a wing for further boss attempts.

With 2 hour respawn timers, it's kind of hard to motivate people. I'd like to get the sense of urgency from the beginning of the raid rather then be trying to beat a timer and waste two hours of my life.

Could you elaborate what the usage of this mod would be atall? Besides knowing that people that are slowasses are really slowasses, which you knew before already.

Or did you just search a stupid example for the usage of a Timer mod?

Basically, many guilds have just enough members to progress in the game and this game requires everyone's attention participating in the raid in order to progress. Now, not every person sitting behind their computer is a bot, but since they play a game they are competitive. People returning faster to the front and seeing that we as a whole are able to do something faster would be something for everyone to work for and would do.

I tried this last night in our progression raid with a simple timer mod. I was starting it and stopping it and posting in /ra how long it took. Surprisingly enough, it worked... People were trying to beat the time they took to wipe and recover previously.

    Thanks for the link.

Any guild doing progression runs into the issue with wipe recovery and getting people back to the front line.

I'd like to write/develop a mod and am asking for the help of the community to do the following. I've never written a mod, and my coding history consists of reverse engineering vbul. I really have no programing expierence but see this as a challenge which shouldn't be difficult for me to overcome in the slightest.

    So..

    Mod Idea

I'd like to have a timer where I can create text that displays a custom message in a channel of my choosing that includes the time which I start and stop.

    So for instance...

Raid leader calls wipe. "Timer Starts/stops by clicking"

People die by killing themselves/whatever run back.

    Click to stop.

    Right click options:
    • Report "Custom message" took XX:XX minutes "in channel of choosing"
    • - Save time in log "custom name, maybe read from raid session"

I'll update this first post with any code needed to create the mod and will update it with valid (non "cluttery") ideas and would like to get the mod going soon. I just don't know where to start =D

posted a message on Quartz: Modular Casting Bar
Personally, I love this addon. I don't get into too much of the advanced features of it, nor do I care to. I just want something nice and clean to show when I'm casting a spell and the cool little global cool down spark.

    I have two requests though.

I'd like to be able to set the strata and the hight higher then normal.

My goal is that I'm creating a UI with eePanels and I'd like to have Quartz hide behind one of the panels. I'd like to put a big huge fat cast bar behind it... I'd look sweet with the design I'm makin =D

Thanks for a cool mod.. cheers.

    posted a message on ItemRack/Outfitter Ace2 mod
This may not be the best site to post this, but of the three, and I've used all of them extensively, Outfitter is by far the best.

Item Rack is not intuitive and takes to much configuration. Closet Gnome is very much close to what that is, but with a ton of Dewdrop menus. While being Ace2 and having all the fun things with Ace2 an outfitter mod shouldn't comprise itself of menus.

    Advantages of Outfitter:

    1. Automatically generate outfits (not 100% Accurate with gems/enchants) based on stats for spell damage/AP/RAP/Stam/resists/fishing/herbing whatever...

    2. Withdraw/Deposit items from your bank which are unique to the outfit.

    3. Special Occasion outfits and class specific outfits. Your riding trinkets/boots automatically equip when mounted and the Argent Dawn trinket is done without any configuration of the mod. For mages, there is an evocation outfit you can create which you can add spirit weapons to automatically equip during combat. Warriors: stance switching... and much more.

Find me a mod that does all of that, intuitively and I'll be sold. Until then, I strongly suggest it to anyone looking for an outfit/closet mod.

As far as being able to copy settings from another panel... I thought about it, but it really would be dewdrop navigation hell. You would end up being 6-7 menu panels deep, and it becomes more of a headache than a solution.

Possibly a way to add a dewdrop to your panel when unlocked that, as a right click that starts from the /Panel Settings/1. PANELNAME ?

    @ProperMethodz:
You can switch the direction of the gradient to be horizontal instead of vertical, so Top/Bottom would be inaccurate in that case. It really is background and then gradient. The only thing that gets confusing is if you want the gradient color to stick out and the background to turn into the gradient. (ie, bottom of panel is visible and fades to the top)

    @MacMystery:
You could set up a global style for your panels, and then each time you create a panel do it from there instead of from default.
True story. I guess it's as intuitive as it gets =D

    An idea I had though.

Kinda like the way all the new forums work with the ability to skin them. This mod is the first one I've found that comes close to the ease of "Skin-ability".

If there were a way to load, like through the profile menu a set of skins with locations of frames/sizes/etc., it would allow for skinning packages to be made. Maybe help build a community around the mod itself.

I so wish I could code.

Once again, Kudos on an awesome mod. This so far is one of the best I've seen for interface enhancement.

In combat panels... ones that only show or can be hidden while in/out combat.

    OK, as I've found out..

WoW has texture limitations so creating them do need to be in the power of two. The information I learned, I did so last night so bare with me.

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

How to do it in Photoshop (CS2):

    1. Right click on the layer's thumbnail and "Select Layer Transparency"

    2. With Marquee tool (selection tool) enabled, right click on the selected area and "Save Selection..."

    3. In your "Layers" box there is a tab called "Channels", make the new Alpha layer visible and save your image as a 32/24 bit .tga file without compression.

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

EDIT: Sorry to mention that you've created a mod I like very much. A small suggestion to make it a bit more intuitive. Instead of using "background/gradient" how about "Top/Bottom"?

EDIT #2: Will there be future support for individual panel alpha settings after you have a texture put on it? I'd like to make my texture slightly transparent to the game.

posted a message on Using Skinner... dot dot dot
This'll be my first post here so I'll try to make it a good one =D

So, I'm using Skinner and have a few questions/concerns/comments maybe the community can help me with.

First off, the mod isn't very intuitive but does the job I'm looking for. The fact that you can add middle frames is nice, but the inability to adjust the hight of the gradient on each frame really degrades the value of this mod. If I enable a middle frame which is under the gradient hight, the gradient extends below the border of the frame overlapping other frames.

So, my thoughts. If I knew what I was doing to develop this mod, I'd make sub menus for the individual frames and allow for adjust them individually.

Now, are there any developers here or would the original author of the mod like to comment on this, or does someone else here know of a better, more intuitive mod which will allow me to accomplish a more clean interface.

    PS: Possible Mod Request
I'd like a simple mod which allows me to skin it, but using images whether they be from a .tga or .png. So something which would allow me to drop images into a directiory, create a frame and link that frame to the image.

I see some user interfaces which are graphically nice, but very heavy. I'd like to create my own, but lack the programming knowledge.
