Any news on the Dailies sorting thingy?

The release of conQuest is a LONG way off, unless I suddenly find a bunch of free time and more energy, haha. I won't be adding new features to nQuestLog, so this feature isn't going to exist until conQuest is released, unless someone else adds it. Sorry, the only ETA I can provide is...it is months away.

I saw in a much earlier post in this thread you mentioned wanting to add a way to quickly hide/unhide quests. Has this happened? I'm unable to find an option to "turn on" all quests. I include your mod in my compilation and people always ask, "Why aren't there any quests showing up?" Once they know to unhide, it's simple, but an option to unhide all quests would be great (unless I've missed it). I even nuked out my existing svaedvariables for nQuestlog just to make sure I didn't have any older settings goobering it up. Thanks in advance.

This only happens for first-time users if the quest zones are collapsed in the Blizzard quest log. Unfortunately, due to how quests are read via the Blizzard API, if they are collapsed, they cannot be seen by addons. I don't believe that Blizzard has changed this behavior yet, but I guess I could toggle to expand all zones in the quest log each time nQuestLog is enabled, and then maybe add an option to the BlizzardFrames module to prevent collapsing zones in the Blizzard quest log, effectively disabling that ability while the option is checked. In any case, these new features will not be added (by myself) to nQuestLog. I'll just add them to my to-do list for conQuest. :)

I was doing the quest for my swift flight form and started getting the problems above. The pic shows the text from the comments.lua

Thanks! This gave me the info I needed, and it was indeed a data problem from Wowhead. For those quests, no level is defined (see http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10991 to see what I mean). I can't believe that no one has ever reported this happening up until now (I guess that says a lot about how good Wowhead's data is!). Anyway, I've added additional error-handling so nQuestLog's Comments frame won't freak out if no level is defined for a quest. Let me know if you run into any other problems. Thanks.

You know, I switched to nQuest some time ago when Quest_Fu was having some issues where its minion would resize itself randomly, and then lose all its resizable functionality thereafter.

Since then, I've really come to love this addon. Honestly, aside from the daily suggestion a post or two above this one, I wouldn't change a thing about it as I find it to work flawlessly in its current state.

So, I'm just dropping a post in this thread to show my appreciation to a fine addon; kudos to you, Quagmire.

    Thanks :)

Quag, I'm more than willing to give that a shot. I don't mind testing things if it means that I can help solve a bug. :)

Just let me know where the file is when you get it uploaded and I'll begin the process.

Ok, here's the Comments.lua file to use for testing. Just place it at the following location, and rename the old one Comments.lua.bak, or something like that.

    <WoW install folder>\Interface\Addons\nQuestLog\modules\Comments\Comments.lua

It'll output the following when it runs into the error that was posted a few posts up:

Avoided an error: Badly formatted level from LightHeaded.
    Level provided was: <level>
    Quest name was: <quest>

I just need the level and quest that it outputs so I can look at LightHeaded's data and see if something is wrong. Thanks.

First, thanks for your time on this great add-on.

I have to confess that I haven't read all 40+ pages of this thread so if I'm suggesting something that someone else already suggested my apologies. :)

One thing that would make it even more useful for me is to have something similar to the zone headers but instead of a zone the header would be for "daily" quests. I'm not sure how much work that would take or if its even doable but maybe if it is it could be added to conQuest at some point.

    Something like:
    Blades edge
    - quest
    - quest
    - quest
    Netherstorm
    - quest
    - quest
    - quest
    Daily
    - quest
    - quest

Thanks again for a great mod!

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never actually done any dailies myself (highest level character was level 51, haha), but I'm sure I could look at the code for some other addons that show dailies and figure it out. I'll add this to the feature list for conQuest. :)

I'll upload the debug file and let you know where to put it within the next 6-10 hours.

...or not. Sorry, worked late and went straight to bed when I got home. Should be able to get this out there tonight or some time this weekend. Thank God it's Friday!

As it turns out, I've just clicked it again (about four hours after my last post), and it's done it again. Same error as before. It works the same way as before, one click, boom error. I can't find any other ways to reproduce it.

If you're willing to test it, I can upload a special Comments.lua file to gather more information and hopefully determine the cause of this when it happens. It won't bother you unless it encounters that error, and then it will dump information to the chat window. There really isn't any other way I can help you, as the error reported doesn't give me enough information to determine the *true* cause of the problem, especially since I cannot reproduce this. I'll upload the debug file and let you know where to put it within the next 6-10 hours.

In the meantime, you can always disable all other addons besides nQuestLog and LightHeaded and then see if the problem still occurs (or do the opposite and disable groups of addons until the problem is gone). This should help you isolate what addon is causing the problem, assuming it is an addon conflict.

I can't reproduce the above error. What is the quest level and name that triggers this for you? I tested with about 30 different quests, many with quest series like the one that errored for you, so I need to know which quest it was. Once I know the quest, I'll look at LightHeaded's data and see if there is invalid data there for which I need to write some additional error handling. Thanks!

awww... New name? But nQL is already so recognized. :P

Eh, now that I've gotten enough lua coding experience, I just wanted to create something of my own. Just think of it as another option when it's eventually released. I'll still support nQuestLog in the meantime, but I'd rather spend my time learning Ace3 and working on the new addon. :)

I hate to nag, but any updates on this? I'm still looking forward to the quest status announcing feature.

Sorry, I've just now, over the past couple of days, been able to get back into playing WoW and addon coding, after being too busy (or too tired) to do either one for the past few months. Since I'm rewriting everything from scratch, and currently learning the new Ace3 framework, I'll be releasing the rewrite as an entirely new Ace3-based addon (probably named "conQuest"). So, nQuestLog is in maintenance mode only right now unless someone else decides to add some features.

Is there a way to make it so that when it adds a quest to the quest log, the quest log 'grows up' instead of down? If not, my suggestion is to add that, it would be a nice addition if its not already there.

Yeah, you just need to change the frame anchor. The option is in the nQuestLog menu under "Minion -> Anchor", or something like that. Just anchor the corner of the minion that you want to remain stationary. If you want it to expand up and to the right, for example, you'd anchor the bottom left corner.

This looks like a really nice mod, I found it from WoWinterface's "survival guide" since Mquest doesn't look like its being updated anymore...

One problem though, I've never actually downloaded a mod from this site before, I normally use Curse.. where on this addon's page is the download link? I hope I don't have to use some automated updater thing >.<

You can download it from http://files.wowace.com or through the WowAceUpdater. The direct link to the latest version is http://files.wowace.com/nQuestLog/nQuestLog.zip.

I just wanted to say thank you for creating and sharing this wonderful addon. I've previously used several HUDs, and I just never was 100% satisfied with all of the other ones currently available. With your HUD, I'm able to tweak it exactly to my liking, remove the stuff I don't want, and add the stuff I do. After reviewing the comments in this thread, it looks like others have already asked for the few features I miss, and I can certainly wait for those. Thanks again for your hard work on this addon!

I'm getting a nasty error between Lightheaded and nQuestLog. Should I post the report here, or pm it to someone?

Also make sure you have downloaded the latest LightHeaded and the latest nQuestLog, as both have been updated within the past few days. If you are already using the most current versions, please post your error here so I can take a look at it. Thanks.
