    posted a message on AutoBar?
Obviously it's an extra bar with items on it. That would be easily do-able with Visor. However, my favourite features of AutoBar are (long explanation):

    1) It populates buttons with my consumables as I acquire them, placing them according to the order I specified (left to right: conjured water, conjured bread, mana gems, mana potions, health potions, healthstones, bandages, fire protection potions, arcane protection potions). So when I log in all I see are bandages in the left-most spot (usually keep my potions banked for raids). I summon water, the bandages slide one spot to the right and the water's now on the left. I summon food, the bandages again slide one spot to the right so now the bread is between the water and the bandages. Etc. I know the default Blizzard bars now remember placement of consumables, but the default bars won't do #2 and #3 explained below. Besides, my default bars are already filled with spells/abilities/macros.

    2) It slides all buttons to the left to keep items side by side, effectively hiding empty item spots. I dislike holes, especially in the grouping of my consumables.

    3) It fills buttons with lower ranks of the items when the higher rank is used. For example, I use my Mana Ruby and it's automatically replaced in the same slot with my Mana Citrine. I use my Mana Citrine and it's replaced with Mana Jade. Etc.

    4) I keep going back and forth on whether I like the merged healing and merged mana categories. It saves space, but sometimes I like a little more control over what I'm consuming.

I'm a very visual person, I like the bar layout, especially in combat when I need quick access to mana gems and various potions.

What do I dislike about AutoBar? Hmm... It does seem to be a bit large for what it is. It has so many different functions that really are unnecessary to the primary purpose of the AddOn; self-casting, moving, docking, scaling, etc. I have no idea how badly it's impacting my FPS, but I've all confidence something similar built with Ace wouldn't be nearly as bad nor would an Ace version try to accomplish everything in the world. Secondly, it's not an Ace AddOn. :P Third, I'm trying to eliminate my use of AddOns by certain authors.

I would love to see AutoBar Ace'd. Visor can probably do some of what AutoBar does, but I honestly have no idea if it can totally replace AutoBar, or how to go about scripting that if it is possible.

posted a message on Questions re Saved Variable files
My solution is, every now and then... I just open the savedvariables folder, sort by date/time and delete everything thats not from the day of the last wow login.

It's so embarrassing to need someone to point out the obvious. Thank you for the excellent suggestion! :P

posted a message on Questions re Saved Variable files
Two questions regarding the saved variable files in WoW. First, if I install an AddOn and play with it a bit, then uninstall it...do the saved variables it created still get loaded? Second, is there an easier way to get rid of old saved variables I no longer need? I realize I can compare AddOn directory to SavedVariables directory...but that's tedious.

Same thing happened to me today, Thirsterhall. So I logged out and tried logging back in, it wouldn't accept my password. Asked for my password via e-mail, plugged that in and it still won't let me log in. /sigh

Unfortunately the majority of the AddOns I use are hosted only on Curse. Like it or not, they are the largest repository. Surprising really, considering the numerous problems they've had.

Autobuffers can be a liability if you're facing a dispelling class like a priest or a shaman.

Hence the option of having it work all the time, or only outside combat.

But, I won't be making it do anything automatic.

    Then what's the point?

The easiest option, I'd think, would be to save settings per character.

You do check Saien's website to check for updates, don't you? He doesn't maintain links on Curse, WoWInterface or any of the other AddOn sites.

It's working fine on my roommate's computer, Devla.

You might want to take a look at ItemRack, though...I find it vastly superior to Wardrobe or EquipManager.
