You don't hear the alert because PlaySoundFile is broken right now... a casualty of the recent patch.

Slouken has stated it will be repaired soon.

Thats terrific! I was thinking my problem and the no-sound might be related.

Grita, does that probiem occur in parties *and* raids, and does it occur with and/or without pet support? I'd need all possible combinations. Also, did you have a pet summoned? Is it possible your pet has the same name as your character has (because then the pet would overwrite the player roster data)? Also, please post the exact result of "/squishy wtf" in raids and parties. Finally, are you playing a US client?

I will get you this exact information after the servers come back up.  I have entreated my husband to help me and even convinced him to let me put ace and squishy on his machine :D  I'm curious to see if it leaves him out, leaves me out or acts as it should over there.  FYI I am playing on the regular ol' american english client and my pet is named Frübl.   From my memory I never appeared on the Squishy list in raid/party/solo and with/without pet support, with pet summoned.  I distinctly remember a recent raid in which I had pet support up and seeing my pet show up in the list.
Yesterday when testing I logged in my level 8 priest, turned off everything but squishy and ace and had the same problem...she never showed up on the squishy list no matter how much I injured her.
Anyhoo! Like I said, more detailed info later.

OK! I tried deleting every squishy related item I could think of and have downloaded the most recent version.

It doesn't matter if I'm solo (in solo mode) or in a group...my character never shows up in the squishy frame.

I even tried turning off everything except squishy and ace :(

roster data is okay, I see the frame, I see the backdrop if I turn it on...I don't hear aggro alerts, I never show up in the frame...other party members show up fine.

The only problem I've had with AceHeal is that I couldn't use the nice super-compact but wholly complete WatchDog bars and haven't found the perfect replacement yet. Perl Classic is kinda close, but still a bit bulky (UI wise).

Just so's ya know, you can use AceHeal with WatchDog very easily!

from a post a while back:

No need to add WD support directly. WD allows you to call any script your like. So for WD just enter /script calls into AceHeal.

For example: in thier mouse config instead of dragging spells simply enter things like below
Not sure wd_target is the right term but WD spells out what it usees for the currently clicked on unit

    /script AceHeal:Heal(wd_unit)
    /script AceHeal:EmergencyHeal(wd_unit)
    /script AceHeal:InstantHeal(wd_unit)
    /script AceHeal:GroupHeal(wd_unit)
    /script AceHeal:Res(wd_unit)

Grita, so when in a party you can see everyone but yourself?

Yes, I saw everyone but myself.  I even turned on pet support and saw my dog!

    Quote from maia »

Do you have the same problem in raids?

Didn't check in a raid, but I can do that tonight.

    Quote from maia »

    what does /squishy wtf say?

It still said 'roster data ok', but that was not the most current SVN file

    Quote from maia »

Also, the header is hidden when turning off the backdrop. I think I'll change that though. Someone wanted it that way, but it seems to be more confusing than anything else.

I'm ambivalent about that.  I kind of like not having anything on my screen if no one is being 'squished' :D

Further...with the backdrop on, when I do have aggro, the squishy title text highlights red. But with the backdrop off (and the title text not visible) when I have aggro, I get nada.

I haven't downloaded the new version yet (middle of a strat run, but hey, I can alt tab out and post right? :X) but I can tell you this, I can see everyone else in squishy (when they are hurt or have aggro) and my pet, but not me. Its very odd...I can get aggro or get hurt and I just don't show up.

I have turned on squishy in solo mode but I never show up in the squishy window. I did a squishy wtf and got a report of 'roster data ok'.

Any thoughts on what I should try?

That is both interesting and very confusing to me, but only because I don't have any problems using WatchDog to clickcast attacks on hostile targets using just the WatchDog target frame.  I vote cladhaire visits the thread and esplains how things work!

[edit] wait, maybe I don't have any problems clickcasting on my watchdog target because I actually have the thing I'm clickcasting on targetted? I'll drink more coffee and think on this more

In other news, I really do appreciate all the hard work you've put into those oRA_maintankframes icetrain.

But! and this goes back to my three frame idea, what if I were a priest, and I used both hostile and friendly target clickcasting.  I want to attack the maintank's target with clickcasting and I want to heal the maintank.  Current clickcasting mods only allow me to heal the maintank through the maintank target frame.  Icetrain's may someday allow me to do one or the other, but not both.

This is why I think a three frame maintank window would be the way to go.

Admittedly, you could just strip the first frame (which is a static frame only showing the maintank)...but then people who are used to healing by click healing their maintank target frames would be upset....of course clickhealing could still go on with the maintank target of target window (that would be the third frame) but that might be difficult if you consider that the monster might not always be targetting the maintank you want to heal.

Anyway!  Just more thoughts to ponder.

I haven't used CTRA since I was a healer and at that time click casting on the maintank frame allowed me to cast heals on the maintank, which seemed perfectly normal.

Now that I want to click cast to *attack* the maintank target it seems really odd.  I mean if I see [BigAngryMonster] why would clicking there cast a heal?

I'm using oRA's maintank frames...and have conferred somewhat with their author (via posts on wowinterface) about WatchDog support, which he was kind enough to add.  He was working on having an option for hostile targets and got it added but it doesn't really work.  I'm not sure why it doesn't work either.

I was wondering if it might not be simpler to just have more frames which clearly show who/what you are clickcasting on.

    I could be wrong!

Maintank frames (CTRA style) are always so confusing to me mostly due to the clickcasting support of them.

What you have is a frame - the frame shows the maintank's target.  The tooltip gives the maintank's name?  Clickcasting on the maintank frame for some reason is an action on the maintank - usually a heal, most clickcasters are healers I assume.  If you aren't a healer and don't use any clickcasting addon then clicking (left clicking) on the maintank frame will select the maintank's target, right?

This presents problems to me, and I guess I'm an odd person, because I use clickcasting and I'm *not* a healer.  I use WatchDog's clickcasting support for hostile targets.  So when clickcasting support for a maintank frame is added for WatchDog I get excited!  Yay I'll finally be able to just click on the maintank frame to perform my attacks instead of clicking on the maintank frame to select the correct target and then clicking on my WatchDog frame to attack...then I go to test the maintank frame with WatchDog and realize that WatchDog support for friendly units was added, not hostile.  Because thats what most people use it for and expect...I guess?

I'd like to point out that I am not a coder!  So, I'm explaining as best I can without any real working knowledge of what is *actually* going on when I click or when other people click etc.

My thinking is that the best way to clear this mess up would be to change the frames and what information is displayed.  Basically instead of one frame that sometimes sends maintank info and sometimes sends maintank target info, have two frames.  When a maintank gets assigned, have a frame pop up that signifies the maintank.  When the maintank targets something, have a frame pop up next to the first frame that signifies that target.  If target of target support is added (which it should be I think) have a *third* frame pop up for ToT.  What you'd get would be:

    [MaintankBob][MaintankBobsTarget][MaintankBobsTargetsTarget]

so a lot of times you'd see:

    [Bob][BigAngryMonster][Bob]

if the monster didn't have Bob targetted, but had healer Jane targetted instead you'd see:

    [Bob][BigAngryMonster][Jane]

if Bob didn't have anything targetted you'd see:

    [Bob]

if Bob had a monster targetted but the fight hadn't started yet you'd see:

    [Bob][BigAngryMonster]

    -------------------

With this sort of setup healers could click cast on Bob to heal with no confusion.  DPS'ers could click cast on the BigAngryMonster to attack with no confusion.

The only issue I can see would be if Bob were to target a nonhostile target....however!  Perhaps if Bob targets another raid member we just wouldn't see that info?  This seems to be what Perfect Raid Targets does, is it a difficult thing?  I mean, the raid doesn't care if Bob is targetting Jane do they?  They only need to see Bob's hostile targets.

Another issue would be ToT, the third frame.  This could theoretically be a hostile or friendly target.  Usually it would be friendly, either the the maintank or the dpser/healer that stole aggro from the maintank.  Sometimes however it could be hostile, if the mob that is targetted targets itself for a heal.

Anyway...thoughts? feelings? Is this complicated, stupid and unnecessary?  Did I even explain well enough to make anyone understand what the heck I'm talking about?

kk Ill try this at home today. If its AH - then I suppose that AceHealSquishy code need to be rewriten if it prevents from clicktargeting

AceHeal will competely take over your clicking functions for the frames it modifys.  Just assign either "Select" or "TargetUnit" to your Left Click.

    Working as intended™ :P

I kind of have to agree...if I had my left click for aceheal bound to a heal or some other function and suddenly it was overwritten by acehealsquishy to be a targetunit I'd be a bit upset!

However, maybe there could be some function that says something like "hey if nothing is bound make it targetunit, but if something is bound leave it well enough alone".  I've got to think there must be something like that for other interfaces between whatever unitframes uaxli was using and aceheal now or they'd have had this problem before?

Great :). I've been thinking about a 'priority' category, and instead came up with a 'disregard' one, in that it works in the opposite way. You specify items that MrPlow will ignore, and he'll then move everything else around the items specified. That way you can place them wherever in your bags you want, and unless you move them, they'll always stay where they are. It's a little easier to implement than a priority one, and also gives the opportunity to order them as the user wants.

    I'm all for that!
