Scroll down to the Extension or Deviations of Data Source and Launcher section. It describes what your broker in fact is. Your broker is not a Data Display which directly shows data right there in text. Yours is something that shows a popup on mouseover.

If, as in the example you link and follow, your mod does something interesting like display the current FPS you get in wow then yeah, go ahead and use the text field.

If instead you are just wanting to label it, as is the case here where you display a static text, then please use the appropriate spec defined field called "label". Surely you agree that you are just labeling your icon? You are not arguing that "Dailies On Alts" is mandatory text that has to take up the space of 3 icons are you?

If you are too lazy to do it I am happy to ninja commit the change.

Oh good lord no. There is a specific "label" for what you are trying to do here. Please switch to it. Right now you are using the output field "text" incorrectly.

To prove to yourself that you are wrong please install fortress, your broker and some other brokers.

Now turn off labels in Fortress.

Notice that everyone elses labels are gone. They are now only displaying icons.

Notice that yours just sits there outputting "Dailies On Alts" as if I have the space need or desire to stare at its gigantic icon + text all day long.

I assure you this is not the case.

If you remain unconvinced please just go ask anyone else that knows anything about LDB. Tekkub would be good.

I also still curious about where you got your bad code example from. Wherever it is it needs to be fixed.

    Please change
    text = L["Dailies On Alts"],
to use label instead. Text is for output. Right now your broker breaks the ui of everyone out there that tries to turn off this "label".

Afterwards, go slap whoever gave you the bad code example.

    --Festergut
    69290,71222,73033,73034,--Blighted Spore
    72272,72273,72274,72276,72277,--Vile Gas?
    73019,73020,73173,73174,--Vile Gas?
    72219,72551,72552,72553,--Gastric Bloat

    --Rotface
    69674,71224,73022,73023,--Mutated Infection

    --Professor Putricide
    70672,72455,72832,72833,--Gaseous Bloat
    70911,72854,72855,72856,--Unbound Plague

Putricide is from this strat + searching wowhead:

Theres a ton of vile Gas effects, so probably too many are added here.

Would there be any way to write a Grid plug-in that would work like the Center icon but display multiple icons up to a max and center/justify themselves?...

The answer is yes, but that also means someone has to write your custom code or a new plugin. In turn that means your reason for wanting this needs to be clear and compelling.

An alternative answer is to use Grid2 which lets you create and place text / square / icon indicators wherever you want. However Grid2 is still under development and from time to time needs a complete reset. Since the Grid2 defaults do not set this 4 icon thing up for you (you have to manually add them) it means any time you need to reset you will also have to add the extra icons again as well.

Even then, Grid2 will not dynamically center them though, each of the 4 will have a specific location.

A follow up question to you though is why you would want to see all curable debuffs this way?

For instance as a druid I can cure poison and curses, so I use 3 icons in a row in the center: left for poison, middle for raid debuffs, right for curses. So the left and right ones I can dispel. The middle one tells me I need to heal like mad or something.

Seeing the two I cannot do anything about is not useful to me. I could place them at low priority on the center icon though.

Paladins and shamans would need one more icon in such a scheme, or just stack them in some order all on one icon.

If I am a raid leader and want to see debuffs for the entire raid then I guess what you want is ok. Still, it is better to use something like recount to see which dispellers are doing their job and which are slacking for a fight.

As for the quadrant thing, you can do that in Grid2 by just placing 4 scaled down icons next to each other in a square pattern.

Right now I dont think there is a border. Certainly there is no way to manipulate it in preferences. Eventually there will be. Most "visual" features of Grid will eventually get ported.

Failure to update is just a bug. Eventually we will get around to improving the editing of preferences and this issue will fade away.

...Saurfang in ICC10 last night... 'mark of the fallen champion' was showing with a higher priority than 'rune of blood'...

Right now the raid debuffs are not customizable unless you were to edit the lua files. I will keep this in mind though for when the debuffs eventually get upgraded so that different specs can have different priorities.

When are the drops from ToC and Onyxia going to get included into LPT?

PT3 is generally maintained by authors of mods. Your question is best answered by saying what mod you are using that is missing them and then asking its author to fix it.

...stunned to find that the default size of the unit was like an inch wide...

The current defaults (for druids) are chosen so that I can reset the SV any time and keep raiding without having to change a thing. While that is ok for my giant apple monitor at 2560x1600 resolution it is not ideal for other resolutions / monitor sizes. I am in the midst of rewriting the preferences to handle specific specs as well as sharing settings on an account and class level on top of that. This will eventually lead to simple choices to reduce the scale used.

...HoT tracking is great, but the numbers are too much detail... I loved showing HoTs just as a little box that changes color from Green to Yellow at 5 secs and to Red at 2 secs. Is there a way to have my HoTs just be a little box rather than a number? I tried turning off 'Show Duration' but that seems to make the it disappear completely...

Out of the box (I am assuming you are talking about druid here), text indicators are used for all 3 hots. I thought it was too much first time I got it working but became used to it within a day so I never reverted any of it. It seems to let me refresh lifebloom with about .3 - .4 second accuracy. With the color square scheme its less since you just do not know as much about the expiry.

To switch to a square you need to create a square indicator to replace the text indicator. The ui is incomplete atm, in the future you will be able to just change an indicators type from text to square or icon etc. Squares have a threshold setting that lets you set a blinking state for when they need refreshing. Multiple color schemes are not yet available.

Take a look at the abolish poison indicator (corner-bottom-right), it use a blinking square for expiry.

Grid has two main color schemes: the default inverted and dark scheme, and a regular bar-graph color scheme. Do your icons work in both cases?

Thanks, that should do it. Is it configurable so that we could turn off the target icons?...

They are statuses like any other. By default they show up ready for use. You can unassign target-icon for healers. You can also make it much smaller than the player one, which is what I do.

Eventually after the layered and other options upgrades are done the defaulting for these would be to show target-icon-player for healers. This helps with seeing deadly boss mods / big wigs etc. when they assign icons to victims or the anub situation you have.

target-icon would be used as part of a "raid-leader" type package. It allows you to see who is on what and when dps or tank targeting goes bad on marked mobs.

For now they are both hooked up by default because it is easier to disconnect something than to magically know it is there and can be connected.

After you add it, you should have side-bottom-left and side-bottom-right indicators that are hooked up to target-icon-player and target-icon respectively. These are to the left and right of the side-bottom indicator by default.

At that point the left one should show icons on members of the raid, and the right one icons for the target of members of the raid. Of course, this only works in party or raid when you can in fact assign icons.

If you do not see icons after a target or player gets an icon, try resetting: options/Debugging/Reset. That will reset your saved variables & reload the ui for you. However it is an error for the plugin to not just automatically work after you add it.

    I will update the description.
