Hello got today 2 errors in a raid :) ( don`t know how to trigger them ) so i can`t help u at that ... we were at Bloodboil when that happand if that helps :) in fight with him ^^

Urgh... Debuffs. Well, seems like I'll allow my rogue friend some fun in poisoning me... repeatedly. Do you remember a particular debuff you had when this happened? Which containers did you use?

I'm just having a small cosmetic error with Dreamlayout (the border), it happens on and off with buffs.

    Should be fixed now.

With version r51810 I keep getting this error

    \AddOns\Buffalo2\containers\Target.lua line 5:
attempt to index local 'key' (a nil value)

Eveything works fine thought except the error message keep poping up.

    Fixed

Yes it is but i think i found the problem. I disabled Buffalo ingame (ad addons before you login) to test Buffalo2. After totally removing it from my addons directory all was fine.

Well, good it worked out and thanks for investigating. I'll see what causes this and print a warning in the chat frame. After all, I don't want to let people think "Well, let's see what Buffalo2 can do what Buffalo1 can't.... great, doesn't work... *deletes Buffalo2 for good*". ;-)

Is there a reason buffalo2 is still considered "Protected" when I attempt to update it via WAU? Or are my settings just messed or something?

If you downloaded one of the zips I attached in this thread, delete the folder before updating via WAU.

I noticed something today about the Dreamlayout. I buffed and didn't see time counting, then i casted renew and the same thing happend. The buffs were not clickable at that time (i.o. could not click to remove them) nor does the name show up on mouseover. After Renew was gone, the names and times on the buffs appeared and the buffs themselves were clickable. Same thing happend all over again after i removed all buffs and buffed myself again.

Hm... Dreamlayout's working fine for me. Does it still happen? And, if yes, let me get the sequence straight:
    0. No buffs are on the player
    1. The player is buffed. Buff icons (the little pictures) appear, but abbreviations and timers stay hidden. Buffs are not cancelable by clicking. No tooltips available.
    2. One buff fades, all other buff icons behave normally now
    3. Nothing interesting is happening when adding new buffs at this point
    4. All buffs fade or are canceled
    5. See 0 and following

Is that about right? Which containers are you using (a list of all active ones, please). Which buffs are you having?

Sorry. Didn't mean to trigger that.

Edit: made a few edits to the wiki, namely changed html tags that displayed as pure html to wiki to show the links as I assume was intended.

I'll work on my own theme then, if you like it, I'll email it. Or attach it...

    1. Don't worry, I'm not mad at anything, just wanted to remind people about this inconvenience (and I know it is one) of Buffalo2 :-)
    2. Thanks for the edits
    3. Sure. Attaching to a forum post will do, thank you. (Or, if you have SVN-Access, you can commit it directly)

Might be a stupid question, but what is the difference between basic/standard layout set to horizontal with 10 columns and DreamLayout .. other then the yellow font (at least last time I checked Dream Layout has yellow typing).

The difference is a faint grey-transparent background. It's really hard to see., and I'm not sure the current Dreamlayout is supposed to look like this. I normally use Dreamlayout only for buttons.

    Quote from Moon Witch »

Would there be a chance at getting that setting implemented? Text color changes...

I normally don't do this, but I'll go ahead and quote myself:

I will take this question as an occasion to clarify some things about Buffalo2 that I don't think have seeped through to people yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm not annoyed or angry or anything, indeed I am glad you asked.

At first glance Buffalo2 looks like a slightly polished Buffalo1 with Waterfall configuration menu and a new option to group buffs and weapon buffs together. But if these were all the new features, I wouldn't have called this addon Buffalo2. This grouping of buffs and weapon buffs is namely just a demonstration of what I call the "Template System" of Buffalo2. I dare say this is a really powerful tool for configuring your buffs any way you like (including sorting). You can read a bit more about this on this Wiki page.

So why aren't you seeing anything of that supposedly powerful tool ingame? Because you actually have to work under the hood of Buffalo2 to make use of it. See, there were so many feature requests (sorting, button layout requests, fancy duration displays are just a few of them) that I couldn't possibly have managed to put them all in and provide you with an easy to use configuration dialog. The sheer number of options would have clogged up the screen and scared new and old users alike. Just try to think of an easy way to configure buff sorting that can handle the many needs and wishes of all users. Some would want to sort by name, others by self-buffs / foreign-buffs or duration. So I simply refrained from trying a stunt like this and just kept in the simplest of options for ingame configuration.

So if you need some of the advanced features mentioned above, you'll have to tinker with some LUA code. That might seem like an even worse option than a clogged up screen, but this way, I actually could implement more features that are much less faulty.
Don't be afraid of a bit coding, it's not that hard. Just take the time to read said wiki page and experiment by changing the existing, working templates (there's a container called "Sandbox", hint, hint). You can't break anything. At least, not that I know of. And if you do, please tell me what you did to make something break so the template system can become a bit more robust.

If you belong to the codeophobics and begin to sweat just by looking at LUA code, you can always ask for help in this thread.

If you have put together a cool template that is reasonably different from existing ones, tell me and I will probably add it to the standard templates.

If you can't seem to achieve what you want with the current template-options, tell me what you need and I will see what I can do about it.

As said, I will begin work on an Options-Addon for Buffalo2 that can mix new containers together and will come with a reasonably choice of different layouts. But for the time being, I'd like to concentrate on the remaining faults in Buffalo2.

Ah, that explains it. Update your Dreamlayout, I fixed it yesterday for the new version of Buffalo2.

No errors anymore but no buffs are showing. I can see ghost buffs just fine and the positioning is all okay but none of the buff buttons are appearing for actual buffs.

I can't reproduce this. Which containers are you using? Do the buffs appear when you newly cast them, or can't you see just those that were on you on login?

The login error should be fixed now :-). Somehow GetPlayerBuff(index) is not updated when UnitBuff("player", index) already is.Strange.

A guildmate just raided with Buffalo2 active and didn't report any oddities, so I moved it to the trunk. It should be available at files.wowace.com and in the WAU shortly. I've also made some improvements to the way buffs get updated, it should be a bit faster now (according to Expo, about 20-30%).

Instead of writing "might require UI reload", write "requires UI reload"
I have not yet been able to enable a layout and have it working without a UI reload.

Actually, it shouldn't require a reload as long as the newly activated container just contains buffs/debuffs of the player, the pet, the target or the party members. That it doesn't work that way is a bug (and hopefully a fixed one, so keep reporting it if it happens again).

Make the tracking ability show up in the buffs, if possible.

I feel that's slightly out of scope for Buffalo2, but I'll think about it.

    Edit: New version attached.
    * "Number of buffs..." won't happen anymore
    * fixed an issue with duplicate buffs. If you wonder why this particular bug (duplicates) is still not fixed after it's been known for half a year... well, they didn't alwas stem from the same mistake.
    * Sandbox fixed

I don't know if that's expected or not, the containers needed a UI reload after setup to get rid of this error:

["message"] = "Buffalo2\\Buffalo2_Container.lua:218: Number of buffs does not match number of buttons!\n\n ---",

    [...]
The Dreamlayout didn't work for me, but I guess that's a separate issue.

So much for assertations... I'll look into it when I get back from work, thanks.

Got these errors when loading the new one you provided.

Should be fixed now, thanks. Zip for the SVN-less attached.

Question: Has the label above the buff been removed? I kinda liked that label :-) ?

Try using the Sandbox container and see if they are really not there. For all other containers, they are just not activated, you'd have to define Buttons.GetLabelString, as described in the wiki.

By the way, when Buffalo2 seems to be working properly, here's what's next:
    • Buff reminder: Functions for a container to define that particular buffs should still be displayed when they have expired, but in such a way that it is visible that they are _not_ there anymore. No click-to-recast though.
    • Buffalo2_Options: A separate Addon that can create new containers in-game and mix properties of exisiting containers into them, so you don't have to touch LUA to mix your favourite perks of several containers.

    Hello.
    I can't find Buffalo2
There is no link in WAU or Files.wowace.com

This is because it's still in the "branches" directory of the svn. I'm hesitant to move it to the trunk (where it would get packed for files.wowace.com and WAU). Although this would mean more potential testers, it would also mean that many people will think Buffalo2 is a working addon. I made this mistake (moving Buffalo2 into trunk too early) half a year ago. I don't want to make it again.

If you want to test Buffalo2, you'll need either an SVN client. Refer to "What is the SVN?" for more information. For those who don't want to install an SVN client, I have attached revision 51422 as a zip.

What I'm particularly interested in (apart from strange behaviour like wrong buff displayed), is whether you notice a slowdown of the game during raids when Buffalo2 is active.

    Thank you.

Edit: I just restored the Container Definition in the wiki. I might be slightly outdated, so no guarantees. I will look over it and correct it if necessary as soon as I have a bit more time.
