I'm currently implementing this in Collectinator 2.0. I should be rewritten in about a year.
I can confirm that NumPets() works.
This might be out of scope (probably is) but in an addon it'd be nice to use the same API calls for mounts/pets, so for example NumCollectibles("MOUNT") or something like that. Just throwing out for discussion.
Good news everyone. There has been a lot of active development on WowAce these past few weeks. If you want to keep up with the changes, a changelog has been created:
Your best bet will be to ensure you have a license that is open.
If someone has an ARR license and another person wants to take over, it requires communication between the parties, which down the road is almost impossible.
Make sure your repository is open, and also identify on the project description that you welcome patches/etc and that the repo is open.
They have to edit their profile to sign up, I don't recall the exact spot but have them go to: http://www.wowace.com/home/ and then from there they can edit it.
It might just be easier to allot them reward splits for the project.

So I could just get Torhal to fix it for me then? :)

The frames are being build in OnInitialize and after RequestArtifactCompletionHistory() is called.
I've played around hooking it to other events, but still not having luck.
I've been out of coding for a while, so I'm sure it's something simple that I'm missing.
Git repo is here: git@git.curseforge.net:wow/professor/mainline.git
There's a MoP branch as well.

However regarding your original question:

That describes everything you'd need to know.
