Regarding the PLAYER_LEAVING_WORLD, I've been thinking in that direction, actually. I've got a few things I'm going to benchmark for performance, but I think I should be able to cut down the scan time significantly in a number of ways.

Hm, I'll see about splitting categories and tags. Right now, I kinda use 'em interchangeably, so I guess I haven't had the need. I'll see about a toggle. ;)

I hadn't planned on adding icons to cats/tags, but that would be a fantastic addition.

I don't have any plans to change the search at the moment in the interest of simplicity, but it's something I amy consider in the future. At the moment, Sanity just builds a list of fields to search and looks for what you type in those fields. A more complex search would require tokenization of the fields and the search and various interpretation and all kinds of fun things that I'd like eventually, but don't have on my plate at the moment.

Drag and drop should already work, actually! Drag an item onto a category and tag and it should get put into that category or tag. You can only drag items that you have immediate access to, though, since the drag operation actually puts the item on your cursor. However, I'm going to see about possibly working around that at some point in the future.

    Gorlum:

    1. The last character you selected should be remembered in an upcoming release, so if you select "all characters", it'll remember that between sessions.

    2. I had this as an option in 1.5 - this will probably come back. The reason it isn't default, though, is that automatic focus eats input, so, say, if you're running and you open Sanity to check an item, the input field would focus and would be filled with "W"s, while you'd stop running.

    3. I'm working on this as the target for my next commit. However, I'm using AceConsole which doesn't seem to facilitate that easily - there's no good way to provide a handler for unhandled items. There's a lot of work to be done on that front.

    4. It'd be trivial enough to give you an option set that lets you specify which fields to separate collapsed fields by, which would let you customize it a bit further.

    5. Sanity can't add tooltip info to tooltips it doesn't know about - it hooks all of the standard tooltip-show functions, but it doesn't know about other mods' custom tooltips.

    Eagle:

Sanity doesn't update its view until the window is opened, but it does do a bag scan when your inventory changes. When looting or changing multiple items, these operations add up and get very expensive very quickly. However, I can't just elect to do that when the window is open because, say, what if I were to loot something and then log out without opening Sanity? That item wouldn't show up for my character when looking at my inventory for other characters.

That said, I'm working on optimizations in that area, and am actively concerned with reducing the lag introduced with multiple fast inventory changes.

calthas: Thanks for the error report! I'll see if I can figure out what's going on and get it knocked out.

I may be wrong, but I think the Circle (default) skin is broken. It always appears as a square to me.

That's easily fixed by changing modules\skins.lua: line 46 to:

    mask="Interface\\CharacterFrame\\TempPortraitAlphaMask"

Am I missing something, or is the current behavior a bug? If so, maybe this change could be committed?

The bag toggle should still be there. I'll test it more thoroughly.

A second Sanity window would be a fairly hefty undertaking at this point. I'm not quite ready to commit to that.

Profession-specific bags are handled by the Blizzard UI - Sanity tries to just pass info to the Blizzard functions where possible to let it do the work. Thus, anything the Blizzard UI does by default, Sanity will also generally do.

Thank you for all the bug reports, everyone. I'll try to get fixes out the door ASAP.

ylluvattar: Regarding your question, click the icon for any item in the Sanity window. A categorization/tagging menu will pop up.

You might try that, Koala. If they're intercepting the mouseover event, then Sanity will error. It relies on being able to read the item under the cursor.

That said, I'll try to get a fix in for it so that at the least, it won't throw an error.

My computer decided to crap out last Thursday, and I've been offline until late last night.

However, much progress has been made!

Lots of bugfixes and new features tonight.

    21357:
    - Fixed the filled_slots error in the FuBar plugin
    - Fixed a problem with the bank not updating properly.
    - Fixed a problem that prevents you from linking alts' inventories.
    - Fixed a problem that caused the keyring's 32 slots to count in your total bagspace.
    - Overhauled the interface, reparented basically the entire view, and reorganized the UI.

    21382:
    - Fixed the "menuItem" bug when mousing over the categories submenu of the search dropdown
    - Fixed a couple of over-aggressive optimizations that caused old data to remain in the view
    - Added the ability to set a tag to display its contents in the FuBar tooltip (search box dropdown -> Manage Tags)

    21391:
    - Added a special "All Characters" character index. You can now use this to search across all your characters' inventories.
    - Added tags to the category list on the left.

21395: Added bags->bags and bags-> bank compression. Will add a Dewdrop menu that allows you to pick your compression direction soon.

21396: Small fix to address stack splitting behavior. ~= isn't the same as ==, kids!

As always, the latest is at http://wowace.com/files/Sanity2/

Re: the soul shards, that's a bug that I think I introduced a couple nights ago. Sanity's just being too aggressive with its optimizations and isn't updating on some events. I should have that fixed tonight.

The bag icons are odd. Sanity doesn't touch those, though I'll see about adding a toggle to hide them (I use Bartender3, which lets me hide 'em, so I didn't think about it).

The "tabs for categories" is something I'd like to add, but I haven't figured out the right way to do it yet.

Im familiar with this mods but NONE of them supports custom categories which is the reason for me to use EngBags...

Sanity2 does in fact support multiple categories. It doesn't do them in the same manner as Eng, but you can put things into any category that you like, as well as tag things with multiple tags for sorting and searching.

Huh. Those errors puzzle me quite a bit.

Try the Sanity Menu -> Advanced Options -> Reset Databases option. That'll start Sanity fresh, so if you had any bad data show up from past revisions, that should wipe it. If that doesn't work, I'll have to dig in and see what I can figure out.

    Thanks for the contribution!

I got the vBagnon issue fixed yesterday (along with the same issue affecting OneBag, EngInventory, etc), and you'll find that in the files section.

I've been trying to compress the item cache as heavily as possible to keep load times down, but I've been wanting to look at an option to store expanded data for guild banking.

Heh, I appreciate it. And really, I'd rather know about the bugs so I can fix them rather than people stop using it because it's buggy! :D
