Yup, I haven't touched TrainerFu since... I can't remember. And I will probably never do it again mainly because I'm not using FuBar anymore. What I possibly could have done is to convert it to broker, but I don't have to... Use Broker_Trainer instead.

Anyone feel free to do whatever you wan't with it.

Probably because they do contain "Threat Meter" and "Unit Frame":

Lol you are right. Have used them for so long so the "actual" addon name was in my head. Haven't even looked on those curse pages.

But that actually means they use the addon name as a short description, not only the real name of the addon.

Take the new curseclient. If you are looking for a addon you can only search for the name. Last time i was looking for an addon that enables me to enchant an item in the trade window. I tried enchant / profession / ... - i won't search for 'halloooballoo' which may have the functionality i need, but i don't know it's name.

That is probably a issue in CC. Shouldn't it search descriptions? I always thought it did... Guess not.

So what are descriptions and categories for? I mainly see the names as a source of creativity and a bit of fun.

I didn't say I don't like fun and creative addon names. I really like it. I agree with you thats what the description is for.

posted a message on Why use ace3?
Agreed. My first addon used Ace2 and I don't think I have a problem to understand the basic API. I've only studied and wrote some simple addon to try events etc. without Ace. In fact you need to get dirty with the WoW API if you wan't your addon to really do something anyway.
But maybe I have a good background coding using frameworks at work, so I'm used to not knowing all the details going on behind the scene, that I can't control.

Hrm, I tend to almost always check an addon out, if it has an interesting name. xD Kind of like a "wth is this" factor.
    >.>

Yeah me too. I always check the addons description and screens if available. Not many addons names describe exactly what they do.

How can popular addons like Omen and PitBull be popular with those names? To understand what they do from the name they should contain ThreatMeter and UnitFrame. But they don't...

I had the same problem when trying to tag QuestItemBar.

    From:svn://nickenyfiken@svn.wowace.com/wow/questitembar/mainline/trunk
    To:svn://nickenyfiken@svn.wowace.com/wow/questitembar/mainline/tags/0.5

I just made the tag from the project page instead.

posted a message on An idea for an universal update system
One solution would be to have all UI sites make it possible to optionally syndicate addon updates between them. Many authors seems to primarily update their addon(s) on one site (using repos) and then manually update on the other sites.

In my opinion this is not optimal for either authors or users. The question is if the site owners would like this idea. Probably not...
