posted a message on Curse Client not updating addons
For some reason curse client isn't updating my addons. I am signed in, i have got it set to install alpha version addons, i updated the list of addons to see if any have been updated. I noticed that a few of them had updates, yet when i tell it to update, it doesn't update the addon.

For example i have Autobar installed, under the World of Warcraft tab, it says the installed version date is :18/01/2009 and the latest version is 18/01/2009. Yet in the find an addon tab autobar shows there is an update 21/01/2009.

I am getting the same problem. When i turn off my computer for a couple of days and then turn it back on, CC doesn't update my addons, even though there are updates to some of them, i have to search and update them manually, yet if an addon is updated during the time CC is running, CC will update it.

    Hi gothicknight,

nUI is a compilation of Addons and as such can't be skinned. The individual addons in the compilation can be skinned though.

It would be better to ask the compilation's Author about adding Skinner to the compilation and then using it's functions to provide a consistent look.

nUI not a compilation. It is a single panel with modified blizzard bars and unitframes. It is a 100% standalone. not a compilation of addons. That is why i thought skinner might work on it. (Sorry if it came out rude, it is late here, it is not my intention to be rude)

Umm i was wondering if it would be possible to add nUI (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/nui.aspx) to skinners list please. I am not sure if it can be done. Just thought i would ask. Thanx

In regards to the CC recognising if u have manually un-installed an addon. Yes it can be done. With WAU and the WoWI updater, they both put a little file in each of the addons folders which handled revision numbers and such. I noticed, espescially with the WoWI updater if remove the little updater.wid file in the addons folder, the updater would no longer have it listed.

This is an approach that could be taken. I have mentioned this to Kaelten before and he had said that this is something they are looking into.

I personally think this would be a great idea, especially when it comes to updating addons and manuall uninstall of addons.

But on a seperate note, CC has been working great for me. It does tend to be a fiddely at times. i have noticed that if i dont have my computer on for a few days, boot it up, CC runs and only updates a couple of addons (addons which have been updated the day i turned my computer on), but other than that it works great. Just waiting on the Disembed support than i will be sweet.

FFS, i am will apologise in advanced for this post, but the constant complaints about the Mac client is getting to me. The developers are gettin flamed enough with the Windows version already. If they put out the Mac client now with the current issues they are having with the Windows version, they would get flamed even more. At they are trying to get a client out for the Mac that works well from the word go, instead of providing Mac users with a client that may/maynot work as expected.

I am sorry if that has offended anyone, but it seems to me that knowone thought of that.

I would also like to know, if i select Alpha, Beta or release, will only update Alpha etc, or will it update which ever one is the newest ( i hope that made sense)

E.g if i select Alpha, and a new beta or release is put out of that addon, will CC upadate to the new version/type or will it only update it if there is a new Alpha??

Hey Kael, with the WAU, u had a little file that went into the addons folder so WAU new about revision and such when addons were updated. Would that type of thing work with the new Client??

Not sure this is the correct place to post this but i am sure i will found out.

I am calling out to all developers to make there Ace based addons run without externals as well as with them in preperation for the client.

There has been alot of talk/debates about embed vs disembed but there is no right or wrong way of doing it, i guess is just comes down to personal preference.

So once again, would you guys mind setting your addons to run disembedded please so those who prefer to run without externals have the option to do so.

    Thank you all.

Thank you Orion, i wasn't aware it is no longer automatic.

Now i just have to work the best way to askk all the author's to have a disembedded version of there addons uploaded as well as an embedded version.

    Sounds fun.

    Thanx again

I am sorry to ask this, but is there and ETA on when install/update addons without externals will be inplemented? How high on the priority list is it.

Hopefully this won't start any arguments, it is just personal preferance to run disembedded, i am sure it is the same for alot of others.

I tried running with embeds and got errors about libs and the load times seems like they take forever ( i run alot of addons 284 folders in my addons folder).

I, for one, am quite happy with the client, especially the auto-update feature, which means i no longer have to open WAU (which i love) and reload index blah blah. The fact that it installs CurseProfiler doesn't fase me, except that it won't yet upload my character profiles as it is still being worked on (BTW any eta on when we can view our toons on the curse website?)

There only a couple little things i could ask for with the client, which i am sure are being worked on, which are as follows:

    1) Options to update/install addons WITHOUT externals (while i know it is not necessary, it is a feature that i liked with WAU)

    2) Option is auto download dependancies (e.g libs that are required by an addon)

    3)SV Cleanup

4)Option to see a full change log after and update has been perfromed (similar to how WAU does it, one complete list for all addons installed/updated)

    5) A "new additions" tab which will show new (not updated) addons as i regulary check out new stuff (this one is more of a wish, I don't mind looking at the website for new stuff, just on my lazy days it would be nice lol)

Other than that and the odd addon which i either don't have installed or a missmatch from the client, i am happy with it, and i would like to say a big thanx to all those involved in this project for there hardwork and for putting up with all the b!tching and complaining (yes some of it from myself) that has been going on. Your work appreciated
