posted a message on 1.7.10 heavy fog

    In reply to vitmanod:

you respond in a way that suggests my suggestion is somehow invalid, i don't understand why you write "we want to turn fog off and KEEP render distance on low" who is the "we" here, is this section supposed to be for asking about a specific group or pack?... also the "usually optifine helps but since is 1.7 optifine is not out" part doesn't compute as a complete statement in my mind:/   seems there is some misunderstanding on both sides, let me attempt to be more transparent with my request and why i feel it would be a worthwhile addition.

note: there are already mods which add more/heavier fog (not to be confused with render distance) for non-dim0 dims and for mc versions beyond 1.7.    advancedRocketry adds fog per world as an atmospheric effect, this fog can be selected by weight and colour.

i'd like to see a fog mod introduced whereby weight (and preferably colour) can be added to overworld dims, such that a player cannot see through it beyond a certain distance unless wearing a particular piece of armour, having an applied enchantment, having a specific item or under the influence of a particular potion effect, items/potions effects may have differing appearances (item gives+15 to "view distance" whilst effect gives +20 for example).    now also a part of the fog mechanic (rather than render distance) a torch or other light source (lava, jack o lanterns etc) could be seen through the fog/mist albeit blurred/diffused.

with such a mechanic the game would have a more claustrophobic feel to it and offer more suspense to a player as well as perhaps offering insight into those with sight loss due to AMD or Cataracts and similarly affected afflictions.   i try not to be too specific with my requests, leaving the developers room for expanding upon my thoughts, i think keeping requests concise also helps tho i'm becoming increasingly uncertain about this point of view and indeed if my concise is on point.

ooooo, spawn beacon, i like the initiative :) and the textures a super too.

having just tried version 1.1 unfortunately the only thing it does for for is crash the client (have yet to trial on the server).

should i report the crash somewhere official for you, such as here ?

    In reply to AtlasTheFirst:

ahh me maybe not explaining myself again, the item was intended to only perform the action whilst held and interacting with the randomteleport block, or mebe that was understood, not long been awake here :) also would it work on a server so the item isn't available to be viewed via the client config?
    additional (edited after post-post)
re:"to change the dimension's AND tp to a random location would be a bit more difficult, but I will give it a shot".  i would settle for just having the random dim applied:)  in this example would the coords be set by the location of the overworld block-clicked or from a defined preset?
also i'd like to add a further clarification and feature request:
clarification: the random axis variation would probably need a way to prevent the player from being teleported to under bedrock.
feature: have the choice of the item being consumed on use.

i've just tested this and it's super snappy thanks, it doesn't seem have a dim handler tho, is that possible?  currently i'm handling this by using the teleporter from enderIO, this is a 3x3 multiblock which has a config that can be set to lock the gui that sets coords or dimensions, i've added these to spawn in structures with recurrent complex so they spawn rarely throughout the overworld, i've found this to be a clunky solution tho.

i would set this behaviour to a block with BlockProperties but there seems to be no way to add the random dim aspect to a command.

if you could add this and the item as suggested so the interaction changes from random to specific that would be just perfectly awesome ofc, in my mind it would be an item set in a config something like:

    (default)

    random -

    range from origin: +/- x y z

    dimlist (whitelist): *

    specific -

    1.item,dim,coord

    2.item,dim,coord

    3...

    (edited)

    random -

    range from origin: 25000 35 25000

    dimlist (whitelist): -1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 42

    specific -

    1.minecraft:emerald,2,76 64 76

    2.minecraft:diamond,-1,120 80 444

    3.ore:ItemIngotgold,1,700, 50, 800

not sure i used correct syntax for any of that, actually pretty sure i didn't but hopefully you get the gist :)

posted a message on 1.7.10 area protection

idk about other versions but the version of ftbU for 1.7.10 doesn't handle these mechanics.

rue it'll prevent non "team" members from opening chests and placing/mining blocks in claims owned by others, but it won't have any effect on most other interactions (using potions, eating food, running commands, dealing player damage, using portal guns, moving blocks with a gravity gun[from i-chuns mods] etc), also with the 1.7.10 version the claims can be scattered around (not linked directly to other claims and has no way to set a range from other claims afaik).

another main difference is the "team" aspect is more like a "friend of" so they could be "friends" with people from multiple "teams", rather than choosing a side.

my intention is to have a "Red team" V "blue team" feel to my modpack for pvp mechanics, i've not found anything that handles this quite right, only things that come close are ftbU as mentioned and TerritoryZones, the former has the drawbacks mentioned and the latter requires editing the config with uuids and restarting the server to be properly active.

    In reply to AtlasTheFirst:

thanklies muchly for taking the time to create and respond :) does this handle other dimensions or just the dim the player interacts with the block in?   my intention is to add them to world gen structures so the crafting of them wouldn't be necessary, i could add recipes with craftTweaker.

posted a message on wanted: 1.7.10 modpack testers/critics/players

been working on a pack for about the past 3 years and need more people to test the parameters and give their views/feedback on just how the pack isn't working as well as it could be.

the pack is based around the aspect of team work and built to run multiplayer involving individuals to pick a class to join and to help their teammates achieving their goals within their questlines as well as the overall quests.

a class can only craft/use block/items within the remit of their field and are roughly split into 6 choices, Agriculturalist (planting crops and creating food), Architect (making things pretty), Medic (regenerative powers and tardis), Rogue (securitycraft), Warrior (swords use and swordskills) and Wizzard (everything thaumcraft).

the pack is in a state of constant repair after being moved from release back into "beta" which is now only available through discord via a dropbox link, it is updated roughly once per week atm. one of the main ideals behind the pack is to have a pack that takes less than 1 minute to load so attempting to keep it as lightweight as possible though the most recent version as of posting (1.14O) took about 1m2s on last launch.

hit me up here https://discord.gg/7EP9qJy for chat before whitelist, you will need a quick introduction before joining to evade the frustration that will result in not knowing why and how things are the way they are.

additional: i envisioned the pack to have a pvp aspect, teams being pit against each other to help their own and hinder the "enemy", this aspect has only just been started on so is still in a very basic not entirely functional state, however, the server has 2 teams which are split roughly into one guy on their own and myself (teamed with most other players).   the one guy is feeling understandably lonely and could do with some friends to help them and to share the spoils of their efforts

also should bee said that anyone that can develop mods for this platform are of course v welcome, i put this in as a final note because it’s my experience that people can get rather upset abbot the prospect of 1.7.10 still being worked on whilst the base game has evolved years beyond this mark. thanklies

posted a message on 1.7.10 remove option to make better questing better

a simple mod that removes the "share to party" option.

as it stands this option give all players on a server the quest completions for all quests available for the player sharing, whether they want them or not and irrespective of their choice to abstain from "joining the party", which quite honestly is broken so removing this option would be a great fix

posted a message on 1.7.10 heavy fog

simply have much heavier fog to better mask out the harshnesh of those generating or likely not generating chunks.
also forcing max render distance would be grand.

optional to have fog affected by weather/time/elevation, having a hard ground fog would be pretty neat imo

adds a block which when stood on teleports the player to a random coord in a random dim

option to have specific dim or coords when holding a particular item would also be nice

posted a message on 1.7.10 area protection

a mod to handle claims and flags. players are given the option to start or join a claim, if starting a claim they will be given a block which (when placed) protects the surrounding area. the block gui has options to invite or remove players from the claim, also editing claim name and guis for player and block interactions.
here the owner can set a player to only be able to interact with specific items within the claim. for example enable Notch to only be able to use stone buttons and apples or enable Jeb to only be able to use night extended vision potions and bows.
also standard interaction with placing/removing blocks, using commands within the claim and even entering the claim in the first place feels and kick them from a claim should they be inside it for whatever reason feels required.

would be great if the claim area could be extended with set resources or over time

posted a message on Towel mod +

i’d like to use towels lots for stuff and things, here’s a list of things “converted” to be used from the uses listed at h2g2, *’s are added where i wasn’t particularly inspired for a use, these spaces are great places to be creative or ignore entirely:) numbers in square brackets are suggesting as being variable defined in a config along with black/whitelists that will no doubt be v useful for dealing with them pesky mobs/items/blocks only 34 listed uses here so probably add another 8 too.

    towel uses[42]

wear it: chest - adds protection[2]

wear it: head - prevents endermen etc from being griefed by “sight”

wear it: feet - prevents knockback and adds slowness [2]

wear it: legs - adds speed [2]

    suck it: adds saturation

drape: self - (1)sets time to morning (2) hides from mobs

drape: floor - (1)place next to bed to wake up with speedboost [1] for [12] minutes. (2) tamed wolves can be set to*****

drape: block - place over a block to conceal the blocks identity (block requires each side except bottom to be exposed to air before being draped)

drape: door - dangles the towel from the door handle

dye red: a red towel can be placed in the towel slot to active superman costume

make into blindfold/lead: enables dragging of mobs

use as net: allows catching of mobs, range [3]

wave: mobs charge at the player with attack damage [4], wave at passing spaceship to have a chance at random teleportation

throw it: a thrown towel has a 1/4 chance of making any mob within a [10] block range run for [15] blocks away from the towel

sit on: seats the player on the surface of the block they’re standing on

    sun shade:  *

    Linus blanket:    *

make sail: add to boat for speed boost [1]

temp bag: make into an inventory with [5] slots, all items are removed at  the same time from this bag

    dangle: measures wind speed*

bookmark: enables a book page to be bookmarked, book has to be held

    wrap food:

roll up: rolled towels can be placed in world as blocks

    aftersun:

soak:  - dip into water to retain of water

empty: soaked towels can be crafted with bottles to produce water bottles

wring: - wringing a soaked towel

snap: - use as weapon with [1] attack and [1] knockback, towel must be soaked

emergency curtain:  placed roughly into an empty blockspace, a block above and below are required for placement

sling: use to throw items range [30], items damage mobs for attack [2]

polish with it: use it to turn a placed block into its polished version (granite etc)

table cloth:   drapes over the top of 2 adjacent blocks if they have air blocks or (lower)slabs on every other side

+ i’d also like an everlasting gobstopper
